Within the framework of deepening cooperation relations between Egypt and France in the field of higher education and scientific research, Ain Shams University discussed on the second day of the conference, held over the course of May 30 and 31, the partnerships session with the Francophone University Agency, under the patronage of Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University
Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, witnessed the activities of the partnerships session with the University Agency, stressing the support for cooperation with the Francophone University Agency as one of Egypt’s prominent international partners in the educational and research fields, noting the importance that the University attaches to relations with Francophone countries, and working to develop educational services that serve French-speaking countries, especially our brothers from Arab and African countries, based on the university’s pioneering educational and cultural role in the Arab region and the African continent.
We seek to strengthen the relationship and enhance cooperation between Francophone universities. We also seek to support distinguished education by highlighting linguistic diversity and keeping pace with social, cultural and economic developments to enhance ways of cooperation.
During the session, the experiences of international cooperation between Ain Shams University and Francophone (i.e. French-speaking) agencies were reviewed and discussed, and the number of graduates and the successes achieved from these partnerships were presented.
The session was moderated by Ass. Prof. Noha Gamal Saeed, Coordinator of Scientific Exchange and International Students, Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University.
Where Prof. Yassin El-Shazly, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Faculty of Law, Ain Shams University, reviewed an overview of the French Law Program, which is a dual degree with the University of Lyon 3, using the most important graduates of the department, including Dr. Sameh Shoukry
Ass. Prof. Noha Gamal, presented the international scientific cooperation agreement (MOU) between the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Urban Design and Planning, the Faculty of Architecture, the Research Laboratory for Acoustic Space and the Built Environment (CRESSON), and the Research (by Design Lab) at the Faculty of Architecture in Grenoble, France.
Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector at the University presented the details of the Bachelor of Medicine French language program and the steps followed so far, starting with Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, former president of Ain Shams University, with Dr. Alaa El-Ghonaimi, professor of urology at the University of Paris, the visit of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Paris, to Egypt in April 2023, and the discussion of the most important curricula and the travel of students to train and train teachers.
The session was attended by Prof. Diaa Khalil and Dr. Mazen Irfan presented an overview of the agreement between the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, and Department of Communications and Gustave Eiffel University in France, and identified aspects of scientific activity between the two universities.
Prof. Eman Abdel Salam, Coordinator of the Department of Commerce and Management in French (DGCI) at the Faculty of Business, Ain Shams University, shed light on the French program of the Faculty of Commerce. Graduates of this program are granted a Bachelor of Commerce from Ain Shams University (Accounting or Business Administration)
The University of Poitiers, in accordance with the university education system in France, also grants the Bachelor of Science in Management (LSG) certificate to interested students from the program in the Faculty of Business. This agreement also allows the program’s students to obtain a university diploma in management (DUM) from the University of Poitiers.
A graduate of this program can also register for a Master’s degree in Marketing. It discussed the strategies granted by the University of Poitiers, whether by traveling to France or within the department, in addition to a limited number of scientific missions for professors from the University of Poitiers held within the French Department of the Faculty of Business in order to encourage graduates to complete postgraduate studies for those who cannot bear the hardship and costs of travel.
Dr. Rasha Ramadan from the Francophone Agency presented an overview of the agency’s role in supporting French programs.
Mr. Eric Le Bas, the cultural attaché at the French Embassy in Cairo, spoke about the cooperation between France and Egypt, the rights, trade and medicine program.
At the conclusion of the session, it was praised that the goal was not only to give students the opportunity to learn in French, but rather to use the French method of learning. As well as the importance of strengthening and deepening these partnerships to achieve more successes, all participants acknowledged the importance of the efforts made so far, and expressed their desire to continue and deepen these partnerships and increase joint achievements.
