Competences

1- Researches of the strategic plan for scientific research
* The department prepares letters to the vice-deputies of the facultys to provide us with the research of the strategic plan from the different sectors of sciences (medical-basic-engineering-social-agricultural-environmental-education) and follow-up to request a summary in Arabic of the proposed research project including the name of the research, the principal investigator, the participants in the research, its objective and common areas Its duration, and the detailed budget distributed among the budget items (item 3 research and experiments - rewards item).
* The department prepares memoranda to present the research projects submitted by the professors, rapporteurs of the different sectors, after choosing the best one, to the Standing Committee for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, and then the Council of Graduate Studies and Research for approval to conduct it from a scientific point of view, and to distribute the university’s budget to these researches or new projects, and its amount is (422000 EGP). 3 research and experiments, and 55,000 EGP rewards item)
* The department presents scientific and financial reports to the Standing Committee for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, then the Council of Graduate Studies and Research, and following up on its research activity.

2- Joint research with Egyptian entities such as (Academy of Scientific Research - Ministries - other entities)
* The department receives proposals from the faculty councils to conduct research between the university and bodies within the A.R.E. and take measures to implement the agreements related to these research - The department prepares notes to obtain the approval of the Standing Committee for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs and the Council of Graduate Studies and Research from a scientific point of view to conduct research
* The department prepares data for joint research between the university and bodies within the A.R.E. It includes the title of the research, the department in which it is conducted, the name of the principal investigator and participants in the research, its objective, its duration, and the credits allocated to the research
* The department presents scientific and financial reports to the Standing Committee for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, then the Council of Graduate Studies and Research, and following up on research activity therein.

3- Research with third parties
* In this research, the administration implements the same steps for joint research between the university and the Egyptian authorities, taking the opinion of the security authorities.

Ain Shams University Appreciation Award
* The General Administration of Scientific Research at the university annually, during the months of “August and September” of each year, writes to the professors, the deputies of the university’s faculties and its institutes, to provide us with the names of the professors nominated and the professors who are members of the arbitrators’ committees for the Ain Shams University Appreciation Award and take the following steps: -
- The faculty or institute council nominates five professors from the department’s nominations to apply for the award
- The General Administration for Scientific Research receives the nominations of university faculties and institutes of six copies for each candidate, no later than December 31 of each year.
- The administration presents the formation of committees of arbitrators for the award in its various fields to the Council of Graduate Studies and Research and then the University Council to choose the professors, rapporteurs and members of the committees of arbitrators for each field
- The nominations are sent to the professors, rapporteurs of the committees of arbitrators, for examination and arbitration. Then the award nominations in its various fields are presented to the selection committee for the winner headed by the president of the university according to the list of the award and then the university council, before June 30 of each year.

About the special prizes
The Internal and External Research Department of the General Department of Scientific Research follows up on the announcement and implementation of special awards, which are as follows:

1- Prof. Dr. Hussein Abu Laila Award:
In implementation of the decision of the University Council in its session held on 12/26/1994 to allocate an annual award in the name of Prof. Dr. Hussein Abu Laila - Professor in the Department of Nature, College of Science, Qatar University. It is awarded to the author of the best single research carried out by a teacher in one of the departments of nature in the faculties of (science - girls - education Engineering - Computers and Information) and the award value is estimated at EGP 1,000.

2- Prof. Dr. Latifa Al-Houty Award:
In implementation of the decision of the President of the University on 26/2/1995 to establish an annual award in the name of Prof. Latifa Al-Houty for the best single research in the field of experimental physics submitted by an assistant professor in the departments of nature in the faculties (sciences - girls - education - engineering computers and information) and the prize value is estimated at 1500 pounds.

3- Prof. Dr. Karimat Mahmoud El-Sayed Award:
In implementation of the decision of the University Council in its session held on 29/3/2004 to establish an annual award in the name of Prof. Dr. Karimat Mahmoud El-Sayed - Emeritus Professor in the Physics Department at the Faculty of Science. It is awarded to the author of the best research carried out by a teacher from the Department of Nature from the faculties of the university, specializing (crystals) in the faculties of (Sciences - Girls - Education) and the value of the award is estimated at 1500 pounds.

* After the university council approves the selection of the professors who won the award in the various fields, the administration informs the faculties from which the winner and the general administration of the budget and financial follow-up to take exchange procedures for each of the professors, members of the arbitrators’ committees and the professors who won the award, and a letter of congratulations is made to their honor

About the International Publication Reward

The General Administration for Scientific Research is following up the procedures for implementing the International Publication Award in accordance with the decisions of the University Council organizing this regard, after the approval of the University Council in its session held on 3/27/2008 approving the allocation of financial rewards up to 50,000 pounds for university faculty members in exchange for publication in distinguished scientific journals, provided that it is mentioned The name of the university in the front of the published research and according to the rules to be determined by the special committee that will be formed for this subject after studying the scientific journals.

The faculty staff and the teaching assistants submit their research electronically through the website of Ain Shams University, which is examined by the Chairman of the International Publication Committee to prepare a statement of the amounts allocated for each research

After receiving the statement from the Chairman of the International Publication Committee at the university with the names of the professors nominated to win a reward for their internationally published research.
