The idea of the competition and its stages is based on the need for each contestant to read 30 books in Arabic and summarize them on the project website, provided that the books are in 5 fields of knowledge.
The contestant enters into a competition with his peers in a number of qualifications at the level of his college, his university, and then at the Republic level.
As for the dates of the competition, the President of Ain Shams University said that registration is open on the website until the first qualifiers begin in January 2021, and all stages of the qualifiers will end at the end of March 2021, and a special ceremony will be held to announce the winners, honor and distribute the prizes.
According to the official website of the project, the prizes were allocated as follows: the first winner won one million pounds, the second winner half a million pounds, the third winner a quarter of a million pounds, the winner from the fourth to tenth 100 thousand pounds, in addition to medals, certificates of appreciation and cultural trips paid to the world's most distinguished libraries .
Dr. El-Metini clarified that the competition for university students under the name "The Diamond Code" is one of the most important dimensions of the project, and it is concerned with competition among all university students in the Arab Republic of Egypt; University students continue to read and summarize 30 books on the project website.
He continued: What makes them eligible to compete with fellow participants at the colleges level, then universities and then the Republic, according to specific mechanisms and standards, and this dimension complements what has been achieved in the first dimension of school students, and a guarantee of completing and sustaining the Egyptian reading scene.
The third dimension is concerned with teachers, and the fourth dimension is in competition between community institutions, including universities, to support the goals of the national reading project under the name of “Enlightenment Institution” to obtain the first centers that are more supportive of the objectives of the national reading project.
The President of Ain Shams University indicated that this initiative would help discover new talents and skills.
It is worth noting that the national reading project was prepared by the Scientific Research Foundation in the UAE and its regional branch in Egypt and Africa, and organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education and in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Culture and Al-Azhar.
