Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, said that this classification reflects the extent to which universities tend to improve the quality of international publishing and stimulate publication in prestigious journals, which confirms the efficiency and quality of the methodology that the university takes in this regard, pointing out that the university is keen to motivate its faculty members and the supporting body to achieve higher Rates for international publication of research, by increasing rewards for international publishing, continuous training, and providing scientific courses to familiarize researchers with the mechanism of international publishing.
El-Metini said that Ain Shams University has made remarkable progress in all international classifications in the past few years, which supports its research and academic presence among the best universities in the world.
On his part, Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Sengab, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, affirmed that the results of this classification came to reveal the fruits of what the Graduate Studies and Research Sector is doing in the field of scientific research and international publishing, as the sector is keen to organize training courses on a regular basis in cooperation Egyptian Knowledge Bank to familiarize faculty members and their assistants on how to publish their scientific production internationally and introduce them to the most prominent international journals in various scientific fields.
In this context, the sector has established an office for international publishing to be followed by sub-units of communication in all faculties and institutes of the university to facilitate communication with the main committee for international publishing.
Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Head of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector, pointed out that the Nature index is based on the evaluation of universities based on the university’s international publishing rate in the most powerful scientific journals, which are 82 journals indexed in the Nature index database, and are determined by the most powerful scientists and researchers in various disciplines.
The publishing rate of the university is calculated from July 2019 to June 30, 2020, and publication is calculated based on the absolute number of published papers with the participation of one or more researchers from Ain Shams University. The participation rate in the research is calculated based on the total number of researchers in each research.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Banna, Director of the International Classification Office, added that the university's international classification office has addressed the global databases SCOPUS and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank to correct and unify the name of Ain Shams University in well-known global databases and international publishing sites, which has contributed to increasing the number of internationally published scientific papers attributed to Ain Shams University
