Under the auspices of prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, held a symposium on "Coexistence with the emerging corona virus", in the presence of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Awad Tag El-din, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Okasha, President of the Egyptian Psychiatric Association and former President of the World Psychiatric Association, and Prof. Dr. Ashraf Hatem, representative of the Egyptian government at the American University in Cairo, and Prof. Dr. Wageda Anwar, a professor at the Faculty of Medicine and winner of the State Appreciation Prize in Medical Sciences, and a group of deans and faculty vice presidents and department heads of Ain Shams University faculties.
Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini began his speech by welcoming the gentlemen attending Ain Shams University and stressing the importance of the symposium and the importance of coexisting with the Covid-19 virus in light of the global circumstances surrounding us. His Excellency thanked the political leadership, which dealt with the situation very professionally and provided isolation hospitals at the highest level and provided all medicines and the medical drugs needed by the health sector in the last period.
In his word, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health and Prevention Affairs, the price of Egypt's efforts to deal with the Corona epidemic professionally and seriously, even before the first case of a Corona patient appeared in Egypt, and he praised the availability of the infrastructure and human medical personnel that represented the backbone to deal with this crisis.
His Excellency explained that there are some steps that the Egyptian state took as soon as the World Health Organization declared the Corona virus an epidemic, including summoning the Egyptian community from Wuhan, China, and isolating it to limit the spread of the disease and equipping university cities as isolation hospitals in the best way to receive cases, and also providing the necessary funding to support chest hospitals in Egypt.
Ain Shams University is counted for its efforts in support of the state in addressing the Corona pandemic through its university hospitals such as Demerdash Hospital, Ain Shams Specialist Hospital, and the conversion of Al-Obour Hospital into an isolation hospital, in addition to converting university cities to isolation hospitals and establishing a field hospital.
Prof. Dr. Ahmed Okasha, President of the Egyptian Psychiatric Association and former President of the World Psychiatric Association, added that the fear that we live in now is primarily a psychological fear because this type of virus is unprecedented in the world and there is no treatment for it yet, but there are some advice that can be helpful in this the first stage: avoiding stress, excessive anxiety and isolation and the family and psychological problems they cause, and not following the news of Corona satisfactorily. Second: Smiling as a prevention of disease.
Third: Keeping away from wrong information provided by social media, which provides frustrating information and causes panic among users of social media sites.
Fourth: Helpful eating, avoiding sweets and fast food, and eating more fruits and useful foods.
Prof. Dr. Ashraf Hatem, the former Minister of Health and the representative of the Egyptian government at the American University, expressed his happiness at his presence at Ain Shams University, and added that it is incumbent upon us all to live with the Corona virus, which can last for at least a period in the future until the vaccines that are currently produced are tried, and he added so far. We in the first wave of the virus did not enter the second wave like some other countries, and it must be pointed out that it is necessary to always wash hands, not touch the mouth and eyes, and the need to be careful, careful and seriously deal with the disease.
Prof. Dr. Wageda Anwar, a professor at the Faculty of Medicine and winner of the State Prize of Appreciation in Medical Sciences, indicated that the specialization of public health is very important in preventing diseases because prevention is always better than treatment and there are some steps to strengthen the immune system, including: early sleep and healthy eating in addition to happiness and distance from depression, exercise some Light sports and take precautions and precautions.
Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, welcomed the attendees, and His Excellency explained that Egypt is one of the countries that took rapid and decisive measures that led to the continuation of the educational process and the transfer of the study to a digital study and stressed the need for full compliance with health standards, precautionary measures and awareness in all colleges of the need for social distancing and commitment By wearing the protective mask, and also explaining the system of residence in university cities individually to ensure that students are not exposed to any infection.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, distinguished guests and attendees, and pointed out the economic impact of the comprehensive closure on the state and individuals, which can be avoided by following precautionary measures and preventive measures that will preserve the health of others.
His Excellency praised the availability of medicines and drugs necessary to confront the virus, and also the provision of a hotline for faculty members, staff and students to report any symptoms and treat cases.
Prof. Dr. Yasser Mustafa, head of the chest department at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, welcomed the attendance and the price of the efforts of chest doctors and various medical specialties in facing the Corona virus, and confirmed the continuation of the chest department in providing a follow-up service for cases and responding to inquiries received from all colleges at Ain Shams University.
