The University President welcomes the Faculty of Business students who have received Sawiris Foundation scholarship

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, received students of the Faculty of Business who obtained a grant from the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development to spend a full academic year at the University of Chicago in the United States of America, at the headquarters of Ain Shams University in Saffron Palace, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education Affairs The students, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Khaled Kadri, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Prof. Dr. Hayam Wahba, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and the General Coordinator of the Agreement, Prof. Dr. Dina Rashid, Assistant Dean at the University of Chicago for International Partnerships and Academic Advisors For scholarship students at the University of Chicago and Professor Mays Abu Hijab, Director of the Education and Scholarships Sector at the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development.

Where Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, praised the outstanding level of students and their distinguished successes and achievements at the prestigious University of Chicago in the United States of America, which ranks among the best and most competitive universities in the world. To complete their education in the best international universities in order for them to return to their homeland and contribute to the economic renaissance that Egypt is witnessing.

In addition, Prof. Dr. Abdel-Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, praised the distinguished level that students of the English-language credit hours program showed at the Faculty of Business, Ain Shams University, which is due to what they received from modern and advanced science at the hands of their professors, which made the Sawiris Foundation choose them for this scholarship, which It proves the quality of university education in Egypt and Ain Shams University. He also urged students to return the favor to their homeland after their graduation after obtaining that high level of education.

For his part, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, urged Sawiris Foundation, to increase the grants offered to Ain Shams University, discussed the possibility of extending these grants to include graduate students from the assisting body.

Prof. Dr. Khaled Kadri, Dean of the Faculty of Business, said that this grant comes against the background of the cooperation protocol concluded between the University of Chicago and Ain Shams University in the fields of research and education. Adding that this cooperation comes within the "Sawiris" program to provide scholarships for college students to study at the University of Chicago for a full year in the field of finance and economics, which can extend to the postgraduate stage, indicating that these four students who finished the third year in the credit hours stage were accepted in English to obtain this scholarship and travel to complete the fourth year study at the University of Chicago, USA.

Prof. Dr. Hayam Wahba explained that, according to the terms agreed upon, 15 students representing the first students in the Faculty of Business from the financial markets, economics, accounting and finance majors have been nominated to obtain the University of Chicago scholarship, and have undergone a number of tests and personal interviews as well as providing a level certificate in English Which resulted in the acceptance of four students, given that one student was required and a maximum of two students. The four students are scheduled to study 12 scientific courses equivalent to the fourth year courses in the major in Finance and Economics, noting that this grant will allow these students to study some courses on Postgraduate level, in addition to entering training programs inside and outside the university.

On her part, Dr. Dina Rashid, Assistant Dean at the University of Chicago for International Partnerships and Academic Adviser for Scholarship students, praised the students ’academic level and performance, noting also that University of Chicago professors praised the outstanding level of Ain Shams University students and their good behavior.

The meeting witnessed a review of the fruits of the distinguished cooperation between Ain Shams University, the University of Chicago and the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development, which resulted in sending four outstanding students from the College of Commerce to the University of Chicago during the academic year 2019-2020 as visiting students.

The students of the College of Commerce participating in the scholarship (Michael Mamdouh, Michael Yessi, Iman Farhat, Ola Hisham) explained their study experience at the University of Chicago and the extent of their academic and personal benefit from experiences that refined their academic and professional skills.

It is worth noting that the University of Chicago is ranked among the top 10 universities in the world, and more than 16,000 students are currently enrolled in it in various colleges and programs in various fields of arts, sciences, business administration, and other various disciplines.
