A joint cooperation protocol between Ain Shams University and Huawei company

Ain Shams University and Huawei Technologies Egypt, the world leader in information and communication technology solutions, signed a joint cooperation protocol to integrate Huawei's advanced academic content into the curricula of the Faculty of Computers and Information, starting from the academic year 2020/2021, and this is a continuation of the joint cooperation between the two sides, which It started in 2018 to enable and develop youth capabilities to advance the ICT sector in Egypt.

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Ahmed El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Nagwa Badr, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information, Mr. Vincent Sun, CEO of Huawei Technologies, and Dr. Yasmine Afifi, Director of the Huawei Academy at Ain Shams University witnessed the signing of the protocol as well as a group of the two institutions, as this protocol is part of Huawei's pioneering program iTB to provide training services.

The protocol aims to invest in young minds by adding advanced practical content to benefit from global technical development in line with global trends and Egypt's 2030 vision in digital transformation, and based on the protocol, Huawei will integrate its academic content in the fields of artificial intelligence, cloud computing, data Massive, security in the academic content of the College of Computers and Information for nearly 3,500 students, in addition to training and accreditation of teaching staff from Huawei Academy.

For his part, El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, said that digital transformation is the global trend that countries, governments and institutions seek to achieve, especially in light of the global pandemic that has shown its importance and that it is no longer a luxury, after relying on providing remote services Especially in the fields of education and health.

He added: “Digital transformation depends mainly on youth, which we seek to achieve through a cooperation protocol with a world-leading company such as Huawei to train and empower students and trainers to deal with the latest technologies in various vital areas to implement the digital transformation strategy. It started in 2018, and we are seeking to add more services and joint cooperation with Huawei in the near future.

In this context, Vincent Sun, CEO of Huawei, said, "Over the 20 years of its work in Egypt, Huawei is seeking to work side by side with the Egyptian government to contribute to the localization of the information and communication technology industry and make Egypt a major center for the technology industry in the Middle East and North Africa. In addition to training youth and providing them with job opportunities, and through these initiatives with Egyptian universities, we are able to meet promising youth and satisfy their desire to know about the latest in one of the most important strategic sectors at the global level.

For her part, Dr. Nagwa Lotfi Badr, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information, thanked Huawei for its cooperation with the faculty in many areas and services that are based on transferring knowledge and exchanging experiences to enable students, recent graduates and trainers to ensure continued development in the different academic years.
