The Microbiology Unit at the Central Laboratory of the Faculty of Science at Ain Shams University obtained accreditation from the National Accreditation Council for the first time, and the Atomic Absorption Unit at the Central Laboratory for estimating some heavy elements of drinking water was renewed from EGAC as it was evaluated according to the international standard Iso / IEC17025: 2017 By using atomic absorption, as the college administration and director of central laboratories, Dr. Iman Abdel-Azim, after the support of the university administration represented by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Shawki El-Metini, President of the University, as well as the Project Management Unit of the Ministry of Higher Education, to provide all requirements for the accreditation of units during the year 2020, this was stated by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ragaa Al-Satouhi, Dean of the Faculty.
Dr. Eman, the director of the central laboratory, explained that the university’s Atomic Absorption Unit had obtained accreditation two years ago, and the accreditation was renewed by the National Accreditation Council “IJAC” in estimating heavy elements in drinking water using the atomic absorption technology, which was done after a successful visit by the council members. It is evaluated according to the international standard ISO 17025/2017, and after reviewing the administrative part and the laboratory part and following up on the estimates and devices, the visit approved the unit because it follows the same requirements of the standard
It is worth noting that the accreditation expires on December 28, 2022, while the first accreditation for the laboratory was on December 19, 2018, and it was renewed from 11/12/2020 and continues until December 28, 2022.
As for the second unit, the microbiology unit, it was approved after providing financial support from the university as well as the college administration and the continuous supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ragaa, Dean of the Faculty. The unit was equipped with the laboratory, purchased the necessary equipment and prepared the floors and walls. The administrator and the "IJAC" were submitted and the unit was approved for a period of four years. Starting on September 17, 2029 and ending on December 26, 2024
The administration of the central laboratory and the Faculty of Science is working hard constantly in an attempt to accredit the rest of the units in the laboratory and that through the continuous support of His Excellency the President of the University.
