Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Matiny: The Research Board will lead the scientific research movement, and its role will not stop when setting scientific research policies and strategies

The first meeting of the Research Board of Ain Shams University was held in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel-Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Chairman of the Board, Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President for Affairs Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Vice Dean of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development and Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector at the University Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Sengab, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Former Prof. Dr. Hisham El-Ghazali, Professor of Oncology and Director of Research Center Ain Shams Medicine, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Montasser Abu Zaid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Science for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and a group of faculty agents for postgraduate studies and research, and members of the Research Board, participated with them via video conference technology.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini welcomed all members of the Board, wishing them success in their work tasks and contributing to achieving a qualitative leap in scientific and research productivity and creating distinguished cadres that would help the university improve its international classification and keep pace with the rapid scientific, research and technological developments that the world is witnessing.

         
   
         

He added that the roles of the Research Board will help maximize scientific research at the university, contribute to increasing international publication in terms of quantity and quality, and increase patents from the various sectors of the university, in addition to increasing applied research, pointing out that the role of the Research Board will not stop at setting up scientific research policies and strategies only, but will extend To follow up on its implementation, stressing that the Research Board will lead the scientific research movement at the university and make a qualitative leap, praising the efforts made by the previous university leaders in this regard.

Prof. Dr. Abdel-Fattah Saud assured the support of the Education and Student Affairs Sector for the Research Board.

Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh reviewed the importance of the Research Board and the roles assigned to it as a locomotive that will push the scientific research at the university to maximize the utilization of the human and financial capabilities, stressing that the role of the Research Board will extend to ensure that the results of research are applied and utilized in an applied manner in the form of implementation measures.

He also touched on the formation of the council, where the council is headed by Prof. Dr. Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research and includes among its members the vice-presidents of the university's Facultys and institutes for postgraduate studies and research affairs (in their capacity), the executive director of the international relations and academic cooperation sector at the university, and the honored university scholars among the top 2% From world scientists, in addition to some directors of research centers and departments, to express all sectors of scientific research in the university, health, environmental, and others, for a period of two years, explaining the council’s work mechanism, stressing that its decisions are mandatory for various entities.

The features of the university’s strategic research plan were also discussed during the meeting, and the need for research lines to focus human and financial resources on, provided that they are compatible with the Egypt 2030 plan to support the Egyptian state to reach its strategic goals, and also keep pace with the rapid developments and events that shape the world in the present and future on top of it is Covid-19 and its implications for all countries and life aspects.
