Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, presented Egypt's ranking 4 places for the year 2020 in Scimago classification for scientific publication, indicating that Egypt ranked 30 globally compared to 34 in the last ranking in 2019.
The minister emphasized that Scimago Index is one of the important international indicators in the classification of countries according to the international scientific publication, which ranks 234 countries worldwide.
Dr. Abdel Ghaffar said that Egypt ranked first at the level of Africa in international scientific publishing, surpassing the countries of the African continent with 32,323 international papers, followed by South Africa with a difference of only 149 research, then Nigeria in third place.
The minister pointed out the progress of Egypt's ranking at the level of various fields of science, in agricultural and biological sciences, Egypt ranked 22nd globally instead of 28, and in chemistry, Egypt ranked 20 instead of 22, and in energy, Egypt ranked 21 after it was 24, and in the field of engineering sciences Egypt ranked 23 after it was 28, and in medical sciences Egypt ranked 25 after it was 27, and in physical sciences Egypt ranked 30 after it was 33.
