The Supreme Council of Universities held its regular meeting this afternoon, headed by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in the presence of the members of the Council, at the headquarters of Helwan University, and the Council thanked Helwan University, headed by the President of the University; For hosting the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities.
The Council standed for a minute of mourning for the late Dr. Sabri Al-Senussi, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Cairo University and legal advisor to the Supreme Council of Universities; They prayed to God to bestow mercy and forgiveness upon him.
The Council announced the provision of all forms of educational and research support to the Palestinian side, and the provision of all facilities and support to Palestinian students studying in Egyptian universities, and the Council decided to exempt Palestinian students coming from the Gaza Strip to study in Egyptian government universities from the second installment of university fees for the current academic year, and support for higher education institutions in the Gaza Strip with all its needs of faculty members and the necessary equipment.
The Minister was assured that all universities and institutes had declared a state of maximum readiness in preparation for the end-of-year exams that would be held during the month of June and end with the beginning of July. Reports submitted by university presidents stated that all necessary measures were taken to ensure discipline and commitment, and to implement all precautionary measures to ensure the proper conduct of the examinations in accordance with the internal regulations of faculties and institutes, and to ensure the safety of all elements of the university education system.
The Minister affirmed the readiness of university hospitals in all universities; Responding to the needs of society in light of the Corona pandemic and raising its degree of readiness throughout the period of the end-of-school exams.
The Minister presented a summary of his recent visit to France during the period from 19 to 22 May, which witnessed the selection of the executing company of the Misr House project in Paris and the signing of an agreement between the Supreme Council of University Hospitals and the General Administration of Paris Hospitals, and held a meeting with the French Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation to support Cooperation between the two sides, and inspected the Curie Institute for Oncology, discussed the proposed means of cooperation with the Institute, and met with the leaders of Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University in France to agree on future cooperation aspects.
The Council witnessed the signing of the executive agreement on educational satellites laboratories between the Egyptian Space Agency headed by Dr. Muhammad al-Qusi and the presidents of universities (Assiut - Sohag - South Valley - Aswan). The agreement aims for the Egyptian Space Agency to provide an educational satellite that will be the nucleus of a satellite technology laboratory in the Faculties of Engineering, within the framework of an integrated project funded by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the Agency Egyptian Space for the implementation of 35 satellites, where the executive contracts for 31 satellites were signed for 31 faculties of engineering and science for various Egyptian universities, in order to achieve one of the goals of the Egyptian Space Agency according to its establishment law, which is to spread space culture and technology in the Egyptian society, especially in the Faculties of Engineering And science and computers in Egyptian universities, and this project is scheduled to be completed in full in February 2022 as a first stage.
Dr. Rasha Kamal, Head of the Central Administration for International Students, gave a presentation on the (Study in Egypt) platform, in implementation of presidential mandates for unifying the destination for accepting foreign students and developing the system. The presentation made clear that the platform is working to achieve a wider international and regional spread towards the Arab countries, the African continent, Central Asia and Eastern Europe, in addition to Upgrading the levels of digital transformation, representing Egyptian universities electronically, enhancing educational content and achieving balance on the platform to achieve the highest levels of social integration for incoming students, facilitating the process of identifying universities, presenting educational services and programs in an interesting manner, providing online application and payment services, with the automation of coordination processes across the platform and the possibility of follow-up in addition to activating the role of Our cultural offices abroad to market the initiative by providing good content, directing more attention to the Egyptian Association of Graduates, and supporting cooperation with our cultural offices abroad, and through this system the student can apply and obtain an academic visa and follow the application request through the platform and through the phone applications.
The Council approved the guiding frame of reference for the development of the faculties of (Arts, Al-Sun, and Dar Al Uloom) bylaws of the Bachelor’s degree credit hour system in a way that helps graduate cadres capable of meeting the needs of the labor market in the various fields of specialization of these sectors and in a manner that responds to the contemporary development witnessed by these specializations and to respond to the needs of society and its current and future conditions of these specializations.
The Council approved the plan for the contemporary modernization of teaching in the dental sector, which aims to improve the dental profession through six main axes that include: updating dental curricula to keep pace with international standards in dental curricula, updating the internship year training program, and enhancing institutional excellence in facaulties of Dentistry and university dental hospitals, establishing an internationally recognized training program in dental specialties, developing a multi-level assessment of academic achievements, developing medical education and scientific research in the field of dentistry.
