The convening of the Council of Education and Student Affairs at Ain Shams University

The Council of Education and Student Affairs was held on Tuesday by video conference technology, headed by Prof. Dr. Abdel-Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and the membership of The faculties ’agents for education, students and academic institutions are among the gentlemen members from abroad. The council began by welcoming the attendees, then his Excellency moved to review the council’s agenda as follows:

Opening the agenda by honoring Prof. Sally Shibl - Former Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education for Education and Student Affairs for her outstanding achievements to serve the educational process and contribute to the development work during her tenure, with sincere wishes for continued success in her upcoming career.

Sending my sincere thanks and appreciation to Prof. Dr. Hisham Azmy - Secretary of the Supreme Council for Culture and Prof. Dr. Taya Abdullatif - Adviser to the Minister of Higher Education for Student Activities, and Prof. Tamer Rady - Professor at the Faculty of Commerce for the distinguished efforts in identifying and strengthening the means of cooperation through discussing the work of a cooperation agreement between the Supreme Council for Culture and the Education and Student Affairs Sector at the university, in addition to supporting the bonds of cooperation between the Faculty of Specific Education and the Supreme Council of Culture for the programs included in the Faculty of Specific Education Artistic and cultural activities. Prof. Dr. Hisham Azmy expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the esteemed council and its president, stressing the prominent role of the university in the field of supporting cultural activities, expressing the interest of the Supreme Council for Culture to sign a cooperation agreement with the university to exchange distinguished experiences between the two sides.

         
   
         

Then the session dealt with reviewing the precautionary measures taken by the sector through its various faculties in preparation for receiving the work of the second semester exams in light of the exceptional circumstances of the Corona pandemic, as well as reviewing the early dates for the start of the exams in accordance with the decisions of the Supreme Council of Universities with an emphasis on ending the examinations before mid-July 2021. Noting the maximum readiness of the Crisis Management Committee and the readiness of the General Administration of Medical Affairs, Hospitals and the entire medical apparatus to receive the exams, taking into account the precautionary measures, whether in Facultys or university cities.

§ Then the Council directed the necessity to work according to the electronic control system included in the UMS (University Management System) to keep pace with the current and future developments in the conditions of the global pandemic, and to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and speed in preparing and presenting results in a transparent and easy manner and in accordance with the nature of each Academic system. With thanks to the Faculty of Computers and Information based on automating the university and preparing electronic controls, praising its efforts to accurately accomplish it, and sincere thanks to the faculties for effective cooperation to make the system a success.

In this context, the Council stressed the regularity and speed of control, correction and monitoring work, in order to ensure the completion of the correction work in a timely manner, no later than mid-July.

Then the council dealt with the mechanisms and controls for accepting students ’excuses in the interest of the student and without prejudice to the law organizing universities and its executive regulations and the course of the educational process, with clarification of the mechanism for accepting the excuse of fear of Corona in accordance with the decisions of the Supreme Council of Universities previously sent to Faculties.

Then the Council affirmed the intention to start the work of cooperation committees between similar departments between different Faculties in accordance with the provisions of the law, in a way that supports the importance of cooperation and exchange of experiences between Faculties under the supervision of Prof. Dr.. Chairman of the Board.

The Council approved a proposal for the regulation of the Faculty of Digital Media, noting the efforts made by the sector to support the committee formed to start the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in the new year.

The committees formed to study a set of distinct programs proposed to start in the new academic year to ensure their compatibility with the needs of the labor market were also reviewed.

The council reviewed the efforts of the university represented by the Faculty of Business to support its distinguished students by participating in the Sawiris Foundation grant, which requires spending a full academic year at the University of Chicago in accordance with the agreement concluded between the university and the University of Chicago that provides student exchange, confirming the university’s prominent role in supporting its students.

The council concluded its work by discussing the necessary proactive measures for Faculty and their controllers in preparation for graduating the next batch in light of the decisions of the Supreme Council of Universities and the University Council.
