Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University announced the names of the winners of the "Ain Shams Innovates" competition, which is held for the second year in a row under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Hisham Temraz, Vice President of Community and Environmental Affairs, with a total of 300,000 EGP prizes.
He praised the efforts of the University's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, stressing that the integrated building specially equipped for the center will be completed in its new outfit, at a cost of more than 100 million pounds with the generous contribution of the Central Bank of Egypt.
He explained that this year the competition was unique with the participation of undergraduate contestants and postgraduate researchers, which makes the real gain from the competition represented in participation, saying, "Everyone gains just by participating, trying and brainstorming."
He added that the university is not only for education but to build character, pointing out that Ain Shams University is on its way to be one of the fourth generation universities, noting that the building is not just a place but an incubator for ideas and inventions.
He pointed out to the new Ain Shams University site, which is scheduled to be completed within one year, which includes the Innovation, Science and Technology Park on an area of 30 acres.
He appreciated the efforts of the deans, agents and all shareholders for their time and efforts in this serious work, hoping for the cooperation of local, international and regional companies, especially since Ain Shams University has become a key partner with a number of universities.
During the celebration witnessed by a group of public figures, including Prof. Dr. Saleh Hashem, former Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities, and a regional president representing the Middle East and North Africa in the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Zaki Badr, Minister of Education and former Minister of Local Development, President of October 6 University, Prof. Dr. Ali Abdel Aziz, former Vice President of Ain Shams University and Vice President of October 6 University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Senjab, the former Vice President of Ain Shams University, and a group of deans and agents of the university's faculties, faculty staff, students and researchers.
Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Postgraduate Studies and Research, said that the competition has evolved in its second version to include not only students, but researchers, alumni and faculty staff, as 199 participants have participated through multiple stages until reaching the closing events. He pointed to the diversity of ideas as they are multi-level, some of them are emerging and some of them are close to the final form to enter into implementation, stressing that these activities will serve as the nucleus of the next year's conference and a philosophy that the university will follow later.
Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President of the University of Community Service and Environmental Development, that the university is one of the arms of the state to achieve the vision of Egypt 2030, pointing out that we seek to develop innovation centers and units in each faculty to be incubators for ideas that adopt students' ideas and transform them either for applied research or as an emerging company or patents, the goal is to support innovative ideas and emerging companies where the owners of ideas compete and are evaluated by experts in the field of entrepreneurship, thus achieving the university's serious orientation towards societal partnership and economic knowledge transformation, so that Ain Shams University remains a destination for researchers and scholars from all countries of the world.
