Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies, Prof. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Noha Samir Donia, Dean of the faculty of Environmental Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Hala Awadallah, Vice-President of the faculty for Environmental Affairs Community Service and Environmental Development and Prof. Dr. Abdel Azim Al-Sabbagh, Conference Rapporteur, and on the occasion of World Environment Day, the faculty of Environmental Studies and Research at Ain Shams University is organizing the Scientific Conference “Integrated Waste Management and Revolving Economy”, which will be held virtually online during the period 6-8 June.
The conference comes in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, the Waste Management Authority and the Environmental Affairs Agency with the aim of studying the different relationships between the composition and components of waste and the different uses of such waste, which is reflected in the optimal use of its components and in order to achieve the provision of secondary resources, which achieves the principles of the circular economy, which starts from the first stages in planning, and integrated management waste and the revolving economy.
Prof. Dr. Noha Samir Donia, Dean of the Institute of Environmental Studies and Research, stated that the conference will discuss several axes, namely sustainable waste management, the transition from a linear economy to a circular economy, nanoplastics in the environment, utilization and recycling of agricultural waste, valorization of biomass, transforming waste into resources, and transforming waste into Energy and hazardous waste management and government policies in waste management.
The faculty of Environmental Studies and Research witnessed the inauguration of the Green Transformation Unit, the Be Green Waste Recycling Project (in cooperation with the Ain Environment Association and the Arab Union for Sustainable Development), and the Environmental Products Exhibition through the use and recycling of waste, with the participation of the Ministers of Environment, Military Production and Manpower, and the President of Ain Shams University.
