The International Congress of Hematology and Marrow Transplantation recommends the expansion of the establishment of marrow transplant rooms

The Ninth Annual International Conference of the Egyptian Society of Hematology and Marrow Transplantation of the Hematology and Marrow Transplant Unit at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, which lasted for two days, recommended expanding the establishment of rooms for marrow transplantation due to the presence of large numbers of patients on the waiting list, and Ain Shams University is one of the developed places In this field, where it owns a large unit for bone marrow transplantation, it will be completed and developed, and a new unit for bone marrow transplantation will be established from a compatible donor and a text of agreement to become one of the largest units of hematology in Egypt, said Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Moussa, Professor of Hematology, Internal Medicine and Bone Marrow Transplantation, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, and President of the Conference.

The conference also recommended the need to expand the use of genetic studies for patients with malignant blood diseases to determine the future of their patients and to determine the appropriate types of treatment

With regard to benign blood diseases, the conference recommended increasing the analysis and the safe use of drugs for patients with Mediterranean anemia and patients with thrombocytopenia.

In the field of multiple blood tumors, the conference recommended expanding the use of modern medicines, which come with fewer side effects and many benefits for patients, which contributes to raising recovery rates.

The conference, which witnessed the participation of experts from the United States of America, England and some sister Arab countries, in addition to a group of Egyptian professors and experts, recommended the necessity of communication and interaction in the field of scientific research for the benefit of Egyptian patients, in order to reach treatment protocols that suit them.

         
   
         

The conference is sponsored by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs, Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board of Directors.

It is worth mentioning that 16 international doctors participated in it, in addition to a selection of consultants and professors of hematology from universities (Cairo, Mansoura, Menoufia, Alexandria, Tanta, Sohag, Assiut, Suez Canal), the National Cancer Institute, Nasser and Sheikh Zayed Specialized Institute, in addition to participation from Maadi Military Hospital and Hospital The police and the International Medical Center, along with participants from different countries from England, the United States of America and the Arab countries from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The conference, over two days, June 30 and July 1 discussed the new and recent developments in the field of treatment of benign and malignant blood diseases and tumors, and new drugs in the treatment of blood diseases, in addition to discussing new methods of treatment in the procedures of marrow transplantation from an external donor, autologous marrow transplantation or from a donor. A consensus text. It also touched on everything related to blood diseases in general, through a number of sessions, during which a group of international and Arab researchers and speakers spoke.
