The Ministry of Higher Education: Applying for the university scholarship program provided by the US Agency for International Development is now open

Dr. Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education announced the beginning of the applying for the university scholarship program provided by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for students of public and experimental schools and STEM schools

The report indicated that these scholarships come within the framework of the second batch of grants program within the Egyptian-American agreement, which was signed between the Arab governments of Egypt and the United States of America under the title “Egyptian-American Higher Education Agreement”.

According to the report, according to the agreement, 140 scholarships will be offered for the academic year 2021-2022, to obtain a bachelor’s degree or a bachelor’s degree in a number of Egyptian public and private universities, provided that the study is in the credit-hour system at the following universities: The American University in Cairo, Cairo University, Ain Shams University Alexandria University, Assiut University, Mansoura University, and Zewail City for Science, Technology and Innovation.

The report indicated that the selection of candidates will be based on the strength and quality of the application form after fulfilling the admission criteria, the most important of which are: the applicant obtaining a high school completion certificate in the academic year 2020-2021 with a total of no less than 85% from public or experimental schools or its equivalent from one of the STEM schools are from the first floor, and the student should be a graduate of a science or science division only, and students of the literary division are accepted from students with disabilities only.

The report added that the grants aim to support economic, social and environmental development plans in Egypt by focusing in particular on priority academic fields such as water, energy and agriculture, by providing opportunities for university education based on the foundations of knowledge, innovation and scientific research, and characterized by excellence, experiential education, and leadership. Business and good preparation for the labor market, with opportunities to carry out scientific research that will create a positive and effective impact for students, participating educational institutions and the Egyptian society as a whole.

The university scholarship program also aims to enable academically outstanding students who are unable to pay tuition fees to enroll and excel in light of better university educational opportunities, as well as to enable academically outstanding students with disabilities, develop students’ English language skills, and provide opportunities to study in some universities in The United States of America for one semester, and providing accommodation for expatriate students, whether by providing accommodation or paying a monthly financial allowance in accordance with the scholarship criteria, in addition to contributing to increasing job opportunities after graduation.
