Minister of Higher Education inaugurates the first educational hall for people with Disabilities

Prof. Dr. Khalid Abdul Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab Ezzat, President of Ain Shams University, Dr. Maya Morsi, President of the National Council for Women, Prof. Dr. Heba Hagras Representative of Persons with Disabilities in the House of Representatives and Eng. Abdul Hamid Hegazy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ethdico Petrochemicals and Chemist Sami Al-Jundi, President of the International Scientific Institute, and Dr. Suzan Al-Kelleny, Dean of the Faculty of Arts opened the first educational hall specifically designed to provide educational services for students with disabilities at Ain Shams University and Egyptian universities at the Faculty of Arts.

For her part, Dr. Suzan Al-Kelleny, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, welcomed and honored Mr. Abdul-Magid Hegazy, the President of the company, and its sponsors, in view of their efforts in supporting the establishment of the hall.

The hall is designed to provide educational services for students with disabilities as a means of accessibility and integration. The hall is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, computers with internet access, speakers and electronic projectors to provide excellent educational services, training courses and workshops to develop students' skills and prepare them for the job market after graduation.

She added that the establishment of the hall was a continuation of the services provided by the faculty. A special unit was set up to serve students with disabilities in November 2015 to achieve the principle of equal opportunities and integration of students with disabilities into the regular education system and applying the same curricula and tests.

Dr. Maya Morsi, head of the National Council for Women, said that we have been working on the disability file since Dr. Heba Hegras invited them in 2018. She also expressed her happiness to the students with special abilities in the faculty, as the disability file is a good chain that was established for Egypt.

Maya expressed her admiration for the song "Nafas Al-Horouf" which was specially prepared for those with special abilities in the celebration held by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, because it presented the disabled with a soft voice and synonyms close to the heart, stressing that the celebration was influential and considered one of the greatest humanitarian celebrations of Egypt.

Maya added that the State and civil society institutions are continuing to work on the rights of persons with disabilities even after the end of 2018, so that we can assure that every Egyptian woman with special abilities took its right.

For her part, Dr. Heba Hagars, Representative of People with Disabilities in the House of Representatives, said that her presence today is to prove that we may disagree, but in the end everyone works for Egypt, to reach the right message and the desired goal of their owners with special abilities. She said that they defend and strongly demand the rights of persons with disabilities.

Heba also stressed that she stands beside the Faculty of Arts as rights are not granted but taken.

In the same context, Eng. Abdul Magid Hegazy, Chairman of Ethedco Petrochemicals Company, said that the company is considered one of the largest oil companies in Egypt and the Arab region. It is always supportive of those with special capabilities wherever they are.

A number of prominent officials at the university, members of the National Council for Women, a number of members of the Information Committee of the Council and a number of people interested in the rights of people with disabilities in Egypt and the Arab world and officials of the Zayed Center for the Disabled of the Armed Forces attended the ceremony.
