Faculty of Al-Alsun announces the conditions for admission to the postgraduate diploma in language, literature, translation and translation technology

The Graduate Studies Sector at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, announces the begining of admission to graduate studies programs in the faculty for the new academic year 2021-2022 under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ashraf Attia, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, will start from August 1 to 22, and entrance exams for graduate studies programs in various disciplines: language, literature, interpretation and translation, and translation technology will begin on August 31.

Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, indicated that this year a new program will be launched, the first of its kind in Egyptian universities, the "Translation Technology" program, which aims to prepare cadres who are proficient in using the latest translation assistive software and qualified to prepare applications related to translation technology.

She pointed out that the faculty provided a conducive infrastructure to activate this new program and ensure its success, especially the development of the two translation labs at the faculty and providing them with the latest interpretation programs, in addition to the establishment of classrooms equipped with the latest technological means, which will contribute effectively to blending theoretical and applied studies at the same time to refine the practical side and skills of the student.

She added that the program is being implemented this year at the level of the English language department only, and that it will be gradually generalized to all departments of the college in the coming years.

On his part, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Attia, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, said that the faculty pays great attention to the translation technology program as one of the programs launched for inter-studies in the field of humanities and links language and translation with technology and artificial intelligence in order to keep pace with the rapid developments that occur in this field and to get out of the circle of studies traditional language and translation.

He noted the conditions for admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Translation Technology, which include the following:

- All graduates of Al-Alsun are enrolled in the Translation Technology Program in the credit-hour systems, the general system, and the corresponding faculty, provided that they obtain a grade of C+ at least for credit-hour students, and good for students of the general system.

- The applicant for the diploma course in the translation technology program must have at least the International Computer Driving License (ICDL).

- After the student succeeds in the written and oral admission exams, he will take a practical exam in the use of computers in computer software skills.
