Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, on Sunday morning, took an inspection tour to follow up the course of the vaccination campaign for faculty staff, students, and employees to prevent the new Corona virus at the Training Center at the Faculty of Medicine at Demerdash Hospital - Ain Shams University.
During the inspection tour, the minister confirmed that the campaign to vaccinate faculty staff, students and employees against the emerging corona virus in universities came in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, praising the coordination and full cooperation between the ministry, the Ministry of Health and Population and the Supreme Council of University Hospitals in providing the required vaccine for students, and implementing the vaccination campaign.
Dr. Abdel Ghaffar added that the Egyptian state provides the vaccine to Egyptian university cadres free of charge, as this comes in preparation for the start of the new academic year; to ensure the regularity of the educational process in a safe manner, and in a manner that contributes to restoring normal life that enables universities to continue the educational process and to return to many activities.
The Minister stressed the need to vaccinate against the emerging corona virus for all university employees before the beginning of the new school year, and to take all necessary measures to receive vaccination, and consider it a prerequisite for being on campus, while continuing to intensify medical efforts that are characterized by a civilized and organized form while taking all precautionary and preventive measures.
He also praised Dr. Abdel Ghaffar with the automated system and procedures followed by Ain Shams University in vaccinating the faculty staff, employees and students at the university, as well as the demand of students to receive the Corona vaccine.
On his part, Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini indicated that there is an expanded campaign to vaccinate the students of Ain Shams University, who number 200,000, as well as the employees, numbering 40,000, noting that the university has developed an executive plan to receive Corona virus vaccines, which took place in several stages, through an awareness campaign on the importance of receiving vaccines in cooperation with the faculties of medicine and nursing and the health sector at the university.
It is worth noting that many Egyptian universities have already started vaccinating faculty staff and students during the past few days, including the universities of (Cairo, Ain Shams, Helwan, Minya, Menoufia, and Mansoura).
