Prof. Dr. Mamdouh El-Damaty, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, Ain Shams University, announced that all preparations and full readiness at the faculty, especially the education and student affairs sector, had been taken, to conduct mid-semester exams for first year students in all faculty programs, in implementation of what was stated in the articles of the college’s internal regulations, Article 14 of which stipulates that this test be held during The seventh week of study, to be allocated 10 degrees, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs.
Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Al-Damaty stressed on applying the spacing in the students’ seating, in addition to the necessity of wearing a mask.
Prof. Dr. Hossam Tantawy, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, stated that the deadline for these exams is Sunday, November 21, 2021, and that it will continue until Thursday, November 25, 2021, where students will be tested according to the announced schedule, and the committees include two periods, the first from 9 to 10 in the morning, and the second from 11 to 12 in the afternoon.
His Excellency added that the Student Affairs Department prepared exam schedules after coordination with the scientific departments and students, and they were announced to students 10 days before the date of the first exam.
His Excellency added that the rules that were approved by the College Council for mid-semester exams left the faculty members the freedom to choose the test questions from among the different types of test vocabulary while adhering to what was stated in the exam paper specifications, and the time available to answer fits with the hour scheduled for the test, and the need for the tests to measure some of the intended teaching and learning outcomes of the course.
As mentioned by Dr. Ghada Fayed, Director of the Measurement and Evaluation Unit at the Faculty, that the unit is responsible for analyzing tests, answer forms, and forms for completing the examination paper for the intended teaching and learning outcomes of the course and providing course professors with feedback covering all elements of the evaluation of their exam paper, in addition to surveying students’ opinions on their evaluation methods. and their evaluation and results immediately after the results are announced, and it must provide the course professors with feedback on what was stated in the student opinion polls about their exams and the method of evaluation and evaluation.
