Within the framework of Egyptian-German cooperation in the field of preservation and management of Egyptian heritage, Ain Shams University hosted at its administrative headquarters in the Zafran Palace the international delegation for the “Cultural Heritage in Cyberspace” project, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service and with the participation of a group of experts and academics from Germany, Belgium, the United States, the Netherlands and Egypt.
The meetings were opened by Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Dean of the Faculty of Archeology, Dr. Mamdouh El-Damaty, and the participation of the Head of the Islamic Studies Department at Marburg University in Germany, Dr. Albrecht Voss, Project Leader, and representatives from the Academy of Scientific Research in Germany, Berlin Library and the Goethe Library.
Dr. Mamdouh El-Damaty stated that today's activities included the signing ceremony of the executive protocol for the joint master's between the Faculty of Archeology at Ain Shams University and the University of Marburg in the fields of digitizing cultural heritage and digital human sciences. Integration with the first Egyptian-German digital library of oriental manuscripts.
The delegation visited the Manuscripts and Rare Books Restoration Laboratory at the Faculty of Archaeology. The activities were concluded with a visit to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
