The Adult Education Center participates in the seventh meeting of the League of Arab States to eradicate illiteracy

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University and Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Adult Education Center at Ain Shams University participated in the seventh meeting of the Higher Coordination Committee for the Arab Decade for Literacy (2015-2024) at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Nations The Arab Department of Education and Scientific Research, with the participation of delegations from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Qatar, Yemen, Jordan, Algeria and Tunisia, and with the participation of many parties, including: The General Authority for Adult Education, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science "ALECSO", UNESCO Regional Center for Adult Education "Asfak", Arab Network for Adult Education, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization, Arab Scout Organization.

Dr. Islam Al-Saeed, Director of the Center, explained that during the meeting, “follow-up on what was implemented regarding the recommendations of the sixth meeting, which was held in Riyadh, an evaluation presentation of the matrix of activities of the Arab Literacy Decade, a presentation of the experiences of Arab countries in activating the activities of the Arab Literacy Decade during the Corona crisis, citizenship in education.” And adult learning is an introduction to Arab national security, presenting a phased evaluation of the Arab Literacy Decade and setting a vision for future steps, reviewing ALECSO efforts in implementing the Arab Literacy Decade and its future directions, reviewing the website of the Arab Literacy Decade, a presentation on the Arabic Fluency Program, the role of the network Arab Literacy and Adult Education in support of the right to education and learning in light of the Corona crisis, put forward proposals to celebrate the Arab Literacy Day.
