Awareness campaign and a workshop for the Anti-violence against women unit at the Faculty of Girls and a medical convoy in cooperation with the Faculty of Nursing

In continuation of the activities and events organized by the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit in conjunction with the global event (16 Days to Combat Violence against Women), the Anti-Violence against Women Unit organized an awareness campaign targeting female students, female workers and faculty members at the Girls’ Faculty, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr.. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Amira Youssef, Dean of the University's Faculty of Girls, Prof. Dr. Sahar Musa, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Prof. Dr. Heba Barakat, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Mai Helmy, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Girls for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hayam Refaat, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Nursing for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Hind Al-Hilali, Director of the Unit to Combat Violence against Women, and in the presence of the unit's consultants from the legal committees, capacity development committees, health committees, and Prof. Dr. Amal Al-Sharkawi, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Nursing, Dr. Eman Al-Gameel, Professor of Criminal Law, Faculty of Law, and Dr. Amani Abdel Aal, clinical psychologist.

         
   
         

The seminar was opened by Prof. Dr. Amira Youssef, Dean of the Faculty of Girls, where she explained the role of the university in supporting women through the presence of a unit that takes care of all women's problems and solves their issues and supports them through seminars and workshops provided by the Unit to Combat Violence against Women.

While Dr. Hind Al-Hilali, director of the unit, talked about the unit’s nature, objectives, activities and mechanisms, with an explanation of the strategies that the unit possesses in deterring any form of violence, bullying and harassment inside the university campus.

She also referred to the role played by the National Council for Women in defending girls in general within the Egyptian society and how to communicate with the Council in the event of a case of violence, bullying or harassment outside the university campus, explaining the services provided by the Council and the Anti- Violence against Women Unit.

The symposium was followed by a self-defense training workshop presented by Dr. Amani Abdel Aal, a consultant for window training and art therapy, coincided with these events with the presence of a medical convoy in line with the state’s national strategy and the 2030 sustainable development strategy to take care of women’s health, where a team from the Faculty of Nursing carried out this convoy, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Amal Al-Sharkawi, with the participation of a distinguished group of faculty members at the Faculty of Nursing, who are Dr. Heba Mahmoud, Dr. Shaima Saeed, Dr. Taheys Ezzat, Dr. Ashgan Muhammad, Dr. Amira Khalil to conduct periodic blood pressure and sugar checks to check on girls’ health and how to self-examination as a proactive step to raise awareness of the risks of breast cancer, with awareness of mental health and psychological balance and how this affects public health.

The event was organized by the Geography Department headed by Prof. Dr. Fayrouz Mahmoud, head of the department and consultant to the Anti-Violence Unit.
