The Faculty of Archeology at Ain Shams University held an introductory meeting for its students about the literacy project, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Eldamaty, Dean of the College, and in the presence of Prof. Dr. Hossam Tantawi, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs and supervisor of the Literacy Unit at the College, with the participation of Dr. Islam Al-Saeed, Director of the Adult Education Center at the university, Dr. Ghada Fayed, director of the Literacy and Adult Education Unit at the college, and a group of faculty members and their assistants.
Prof. Dr. Hossam Tantawi said that this meeting is a step within the college’s initiative to integrate its students into the literacy and adult education project in cooperation with the General Authority for Adult Education, in continuation of the university’s efforts in serving the community and addressing the dangers of illiteracy, and in implementation of the state’s plan to achieve sustainable development until 2030 in the inclusiveness of education.
Dr. Islam Al-Saeed in his speech introduced the illiteracy eradication project and the efforts of the university leaders in supporting the project, the incentives offered by the university, the Adult Education Authority and the University’s Adult Education Center for the illiterate, the procedures followed to qualify university students to work in the illiteracy eradication project, the role of the Decent Life Initiative in supporting this project, and guiding students To the Adult Education Center YouTube channel dedicated to this project.
Dr. Ghada Fayed gave a detailed presentation in which she reviewed the services provided by the Literacy and Adult Education Unit, to facilitate the students to complete the graduation requirement, including providing a guide on the college website, the necessary books and test forms in pdf format, and publishing the addresses of the main and subsidiary departments, and the procedures required to open a literacy class.
