The Faculty of Science discusses " Occupational Safety and Health Standards in Laboratories"

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ragaa Muhammad Al-Sutuhi, Dean of the Faculty, organized the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at the Faculty of Science, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Amani Suleiman Khaled, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, gave a lecture entitled “Safety, Safety and Occupational Health in Laboratories.”

Mr. Ashraf Maghawry talked about the concept of security and safety and the difference between danger and risk, as he mentioned the types of risks, including (engineering - chemical - biological - physical), and reviewed this through a documentary film showing how to deal with each type of those risks, as he explained the behavior of safe handling and prevention from Laboratories accidents, in addition to explaining the legislation on occupational safety, safety, health and work environment mentioned in Labor Law No. 12 of 2003

Ms. Lamia referred to (working errors in laboratories and methods of treatment), especially laboratories that may lead to biological hazards. She also clarified how to store chemicals and radioactive materials separately with the adhesive for each substance.

     
 
     

She stressed the need to ensure that the gas and electricity valves are closed after completing work in the laboratory to prevent any danger or fire, God forbid, and this step is the most important factor in occupational safety and health and concluded the lecture by saying that in order to be protected from these risks, the laboratories must be equipped with security and safety means. The devices used are safe.
