Education and Student Sector Board session

Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Mohamed Saoud, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Education and Student Affairs, the Board of Education and Student Affairs, in its session held on January 11, 2022 AD, in the presence and membership of Prof. Dr. Hesham Azmy, Secretary General of the Supreme Board of Culture, Prof. Dr. Sherif Hammad, the former Minister of Scientific Research and the former Dean of Ain Shams Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Refaat, the former Dean of the College of Sciences, in addition to the distinguished members of the permanent members of the Board, in addition to the distinguished academic standings, using video conferencing technology.

His Excellency opened the Board by thanking the deans and agents of the faculties for education and student affairs for the efforts made in the examination work, considering all precautionary measures in the interest of all parties to the educational process.

His Excellency also directed the honorable board to welcome Prof. Dr. Esraa Abdel-Sayed - Professor at Faculty of Al-Alsun and Director of the Confucius Institute at the university for its prominent role through cooperation with the People’s Republic of China, which enriches the work of developing services and various student activities. He singled out the outstanding activity of the distinguished university choir team (Spirit of the East), whose works became circulated locally and internationally, especially in People's Republic of China, with sincere thanks to Prof. Dr. Tamer Rady, Head of the Department of Economics at the Faculty of Commerce and Advisor to the Vice President for Education and Student Affairs for Student Activities, and the work team that trains the choir team, which culminated in representing the distinguished team of the university in the official state forums, headed by the choir’s participation under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini (University President) at the activities of the World Youth Forum in its fourth edition in Sharm El-Sheikh, which is held under the kind patronage of His Excellency President / Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Dr. Esraa Abdel-Sayed, in turn, extends sincere thanks and appreciation to Vice President of the University and Chairman of the Board for hosting it to attend the esteemed board with its intention to make more efforts to achieve cooperation between the university and the universities of the People's Republic of China, including the general benefit of the university and the student.

The vice president also praised the representative of the sustainable efforts of Ain Shams University to develop the educational process and innovation to keep pace with the latest methods and technologies in this field, which are in line with the developments of the current global situation, which crystallized in cooperation with the IIOE platform under the auspices of UNESCO-ICHEI and our partners from institutions Higher education in Africa and Asia, which provides through its electronic platform a package of programs, courses and training courses related to information and communication technology in cooperation with partner universities and under the supervision of a team of international e-learning experts.

He also congratulated His Excellency Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini (University President) inaugurated the Egyptian National Institute for Distance Learning IIOE Center National at Ain Shams University in cooperation with UNESCO - ICHEI, praising the efforts of Prof. Dr. Mona Abdel Aal (Executive Director of the Education Development Department at Ain Shams University) in this cooperation.

His Excellency also congratulated: Prof. Dr. Mona Abdel Aal (Executive Director of the Education Development Department at Ain Shams University) for winning the first-place award as the best e-course and Prof. Dr. Dalia Youssef (Director of the Central Unit for E-Learning at Ain Shams University) for winning the second-place award as the best e-course from the UNESCO International Center for Innovation in Higher Education

Then the board reviewed the proposed time plan for the central unit for assessment and evaluation regarding examination work with the aim of unifying the standards and controls of the examination system for the various sectors of the university’s faculties by the Department of Education Development at the university in order to develop the examination system in a way that guarantees justice, transparency, and the ability to measure the skills and competencies required to be available by graduates of different sectors to complete the work Developing services provided to all parties to the educational process.

Then, the vice president praised the Faculty of Archeology for forming the Complaints and Suggestions Committee to examine any student complaints to take the appropriate action regarding them as an extension of the efforts of the Education and Student Affairs Sector in this context, in the interest of the student.

The Board has approved the dates of the supplementary and equivalent exams for 2022 in some of the university’s faculties, with a recommendation to announce those dates on the faculties’ websites periodically to ensure access to the target groups of students.

The session ended with following up on the work of the committee entrusted with developing and updating the university’s educational regulations in line with the organizing decisions, guiding regulations and the Universities Organizing Law, and emphasizing the importance of concerted efforts under the supervision of the education and student affairs sector for the benefit of students.

Finally, the board recommended the university faculties to take care of the graduates and provide them with all services to preserve the link between them and their mother university.
