The Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University has established a committee for the ethics of scientific research to examine the extent to which doctoral theses fulfill the requirements of scientific integrity.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Safi, Dean of the Faculty, said that the committee undertakes several procedures, namely: that the doctoral thesis supervisor must not write a report on its validity until after it has been presented to the Scientific Research Ethics Committee, and the committee’s recommendation that it fulfill the requirements of the scientific secretariat.
The Department of Postgraduate Studies at the Faculty is also committed, as of its date, not to receive reports on the validity of doctoral theses unless they are accompanied by a positive recommendation by the Scientific Research Ethics Committee. The administration shall deliver it to the committee chairman or his deputy no later than the working day following its receipt.
In addition to the commitment of the Scientific Research Ethics Committee to examine the thesis draft, and to prepare a recommendation whether or not it meets the requirements of the scientific secretariat within a month at most from the date of its receipt.
