Two professors of Ain Shams medicine are members of the International Federation for Infection Control

Within the framework of the forefront of Ain Shams University headed by prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, for the international scientific arena in the field of infection control, two professors of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University represents Egypt for the first time, in the membership of the International Federation for Infection Control (IFIC), They are Dr. Jihan Fahmy (active BM) and Dr. Najwa Khamis (ex officio), and in this context, they are scheduled to participate in presenting a scientific session via the Internet, on the fourteenth of next March, on the topic of "Safe Injection", which comes in a series Webinars sessions provided by the International Federation for Infection Control IFIC APIC

         
   
         

This comes at a time when Ain Shams University is at the fore in the field of infection control, as Egypt represents internationally and the Middle East and Africa region represents a group of its professors who specialize in this field, which has become one of the most important medical fields, especially with the emergence and spread of epidemics globally.

It is noteworthy that Ain Shams University has been represented in the International Federation for Infection Control (IFIC) for more than ten years since Dr. Najwa Khamis assumed the membership of the Board of Directors of the International Federation for Infection Control from 2013 to 2017, Then she was succeeded by Dr. Jihan Fahmy, Director of the Control Unit at Ain Shams Specialized Hospital, to begin her membership of the International Federation for Infection Control at the beginning of 2022 for 4 years, during which she participates in setting policies and supporting communication among the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Region to prevent and control infection.

Ain Shams University is also represented regionally and in Africa by Dr. Iman Howaidi, infection control consultant at Ain Shams University Hospitals, through her work as a consultant in the Regional Office of the World Health Organization for the Eastern Mediterranean since 2020, as she contributed to provide technical support to develop and strengthen infection control programs for countries in the region and enhance their response to the Covid pandemic – 19.

   
   

And she was chosen at the African level to represent Egypt in the board of directors of the African Network for Infection Control (ICAN), which is one of the most important scientific societies in the African continent and has distinguished training contributions to African cadres from all over the continent.

Thus, Ain Shams University continues its leadership in the field of infection control locally, regionally, and internationally.
