Ain Shams University heads the list of universities in the literacy project

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, reviewed a report submitted by Dr. Mohamed Latif, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, regarding the meeting of the Supreme Council for Community Service and Environmental Development at Assiut University headquarters, in the presence of a number of university presidents, and members of the Council.

For its part, the council thanked the family of Assiut University for hosting the activities of the meeting of the Supreme Council for Community Service and Environmental Development, praising the university’s level of performance in organizing the activities of the Eleventh International Conference on Development and Environment in the Arab World, which was held under the auspices of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, Major General Essam Saad, Governor of Assiut, and Dr. Tarek El-Gamal, President of Assiut University, in which he delivered a speech highlighting the role of Egyptian universities for development and environmental protection, in light of Egypt's hosting of the next climate change conference, this year in Sharm El-Sheikh.

     
 
     

During its meeting, the council discussed the universities' efforts and great achievements in the literacy project, in light of what was presented by Dr. Ashour Omari, Chairman of the General Authority for Adult Education, and a member of the Higher Executive Committee for Literacy in the Supreme Council of Universities, on the partnership activities between the General Authority for Adult Education and Egyptian universities, which indicated that the total results achieved by Egyptian universities in eradicating illiteracy for the year 2021 amounted to (247230) compared to the year 2020 with a total of (47598) successful students, where the universities (Ain Shams, Mansoura, Tanta, Minya, South Valley) topped the list of Egyptian universities for the year 2021 compared to 2020, in which the universities (Minya, Ain Shams, Zagazig, Mansoura, Assiut) took the lead with The percentage of development achieved for the years (2020-2021) increased to 419.41%, in which Ain Shams University achieved the highest rate of development during these two years, with a total of 7735, 31,641 successful students, respectively.
