Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Noha Samir, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Studies and Research, Ain Shams University, and within the framework of the services provided by the faculty in the field of environmental research, to serve the Egyptian community, Prof. Dr. Noha Samir, Dean of the Faculty, received Eng. Ahmed Kamal, Executive Director of the Office of Sustainable Development and Environmental Compliance at the Federation of Egyptian Industries.
Dr. Noha Samir explained that the meeting resulted in a work and partnership plan through which reports on sustainability and the carbon footprint of factories are available, through participation in a training program in the field of industry.
She added that the program will help the factories affiliated to the center and qualify them to become environmentally friendly factories, pointing out that the Federation of Industries considers the Faculty of Environmental Studies and Research at Ain Shams University a center for environmental assessment and monitoring of factories in the Arab Republic of Egypt, so that the faculty becomes an actual experience house for the Federation of Egyptian Industries.
For his part, Engineer Ahmed Kamal, Executive Director of the Office of Sustainable Development and Environmental Compliance at the Federation of Egyptian Industries, expressed his happiness with the cooperation between the Center and the Faculty of Environment at Ain Shams University.
He also stressed the necessity of utilizing the academic technical capabilities available in the college, to eventually serve the Egyptian manufacturers, and this will be through the center that serves 102 thousand factories in Egypt divided into 19 industrial, engineering, physical and mineral rooms and in various fields related to sustainable development.
He also explained that the center will draw on the expertise of professors and students at the Faculty of Environment in various fields, including the fields of renewable energy and sustainable development.
He pointed out that his visit today to many models of the existing projects within the Faculty of Environment will be transferred to the Egyptian manufacturers to serve sustainable development, to be turned into major productive projects to become in the service of sustainable development.
He also stated that there are many efforts being made now to prepare for the Climate Change Summit, which will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh on the 27th, and this will be in cooperation between the Federation of Egyptian Industries and the Office of Sustainable Development and Environmental Compliance, with the Center and Ain Shams University to raise awareness of students and the surrounding community in the field of climate change.
