A great turnout from the people of Maryam tree area in Matariya district, for the comprehensive awareness convoy of Ain Shams University

The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research at Ain Shams University organized a comprehensive awareness convoy to Maryam tree area in Matariya district with the participation of faculties from Ain Shams University, which included the Faculty of Graduate Studies for Childhood, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Nursing and also the Adult Education Center, under the auspices of Major General Khaled Abdel Aal, Governor of Cairo, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, headed by Prof. Dr. Noha Samir, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Deputy Governor of Cairo, with the participation of Prof. Dr. Randa Kamal Abdel-Raouf, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies for Childhood Affairs for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Rasha El-Didi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University, and the supervision and organization of Major General Hossam Khamis, district chief Matareya and the convoy coordinator, Dr. Hoda Helal, director of the Green Transformation Unit at the faculty.

Prof. Dr. Noha Samir Donia welcomed the attendees and praised the efforts of Ain Shams University in organizing convoys and serving the community through the support of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President of the University.

     
 
     

The Faculty of Environmental Studies and Research participated in an awareness lecture presented by Prof. Dr. Adel Yassin Muharram, professor of environmental architecture at the Faculty, talked about the quality of life and how to prepare the area and improve the quality of life in it. Dr. Abdul Masih Samaan gave a lecture on how to manage solid waste in the region.

Prof. Dr. Noha Samir said that workshops have been held for the people of the area and they have been trained in planting roofs and recycling waste.

The Environmental Humanities Department participated in the examination of psychological problems and addiction problems, represented by the Environmental Humanities Department, represented by Dr. Ahmed Fakhry, Head of the Department, and Dr. Dina Gamal and Dr. Amal Hussein and Dr. Shaima Badr, teachers in the department, and environmental awareness represented by d. Hanan Zeidan, Head of the Department of Education and Environmental Media.

     
 
     

Mr. Ahmed Moawad, president of the Eye of the Environment Association, for civil society, participated in the workshops.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies for Childhood and its Center for Special Needs Care participated in the comprehensive awareness convoy for the Mariam Tree area in Matariya district in Cairo.

The Faculty program included awareness topics in which consultants specialized in the field of family counseling (Dr. Amal Abdel Mawla, family counseling consultant at the center), self-care (Dr. Amira Omar, head of the self-care unit at the center) and communication (Dr. Mona Zahni, speech consultant at the center).

Prof. Dr. Randa Kamal, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies for Childhood, indicated that the topics included raising awareness about the ways the family deals with the child’s behavioral problems, including stubbornness and violence, and how to deal with embarrassing behavior for children of determination, as well as about delayed language development and how to detect it early and treat it. Knowing and helping children with language delays.

She also added that a number of cases and their families who need more advice in the aforementioned areas have been referred to the center, as well as a number of people with special needs, in order to complete the diagnosis, conduct examinations, treatment, follow-up and take the appropriate rehabilitation sessions. Noting that the people of the convoy have been informed that the center will conduct the first inspection or counseling session free of charge.

     
 
     

The Faculty of Arts participated under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rasha Al-Didi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs in the convoy, where Her Excellency welcomed the attendance of the people of Al-Matareya neighborhood and presented a summary of the efforts of the community service and environmental development sector at the university under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University and Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, to advance civil society and provide in-kind and moral services to the neighborhoods adjacent to the university in consolidation of the call of the political leadership to sponsor informal communities, as well as achieving satisfaction through cooperation in solving chronic problems, including illiteracy, in implementation of the goals of sustainable development and Egypt’s vision in 2030.

The Faculty of Arts team participating in the convoy presented a number of successful events, including the presence of Dr. Muhammad Kasim, director of the Center for Studies, Consultations and Training at the college, in partnership with Dr. Neven, the students of the teacher at the Department of Tourist Guidance, held an awareness meeting to educate the people of the region about the importance of the tourist and archaeological heritage of Maryam tree area to be included in the tourist map of the Holy Family Road in Egypt, and the necessity of preserving and visiting the Obelisk Museum and the treasures of the archaeological area.

A cultural competition was also held for the people to attend and to encourage them with in-kind gifts of ready-made clothes and shoes for about 100 residents of Matareya neighborhood provided by the Egyptian Clothing Bank, in addition to contributing to encouraging about 68 illiterate people to take placement tests to integrate them into literacy and adult education classes and to provide Motivational gifts in kind for them under the supervision of the Faculty.

A team from the Faculty of Nursing, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hayam Tantawy, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, measured the pressure and sugar of a large number of people coming to the service provided by them, and made comprehensive awareness about chronic diseases and how to coexist with them and about healthy nutrition that suits chronic diseases.

The Adult Education Center participated under the supervision of Dr. Islam Al-Saeed, director of the center, and Professor Khaled Ahmed, the center’s accountant, in cooperation with the Adult Education Authority headed by Prof. Dr. Ashour Omari, head of the commission; Where the Authority for Adult Education held in Cairo branch headed by Mr. Nourhan Sayed, Director of the Cairo Branch of the Adult Education Authority, in cooperation with the Adult Education Center at Ain Shams University, took an immediate test for (11) citizens, and (52) requests were made to obtain a literacy certificate, as well as the delivery of (11) literacy certificates.

Prof. Dr. Randa Kamal, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Childhood, donated 60 bags of food (flour, rice, sugar, pasta) and distributed them to the people in the caravan in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.

 At the end of the day, an extensive meeting was held with the employees of the executive branch of Matariya district, in the presence of Mr. Ibrahim Saber Khalil, Deputy Governor of Cairo for the Eastern Region, and Major General Hossam Khamis, Head of Matareya District, to emphasize the university’s service role for all neighborhoods of Egyptian society and to strengthen the bonds of love among all segments of society, regardless of religion or race.

Prof. Dr. Noha Samir Donia, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, honored all those who participated in the convoy in appreciation of their efforts. Dr. Adel Yassin, Professor of Environmental Architecture, Prof. Dr. Abdul Masih Semaan, the former Vice Dean for Graduate Studies, and Dr. Noha handed over certificates of appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the convoy.
