The community service sector’s celebration of International Women’s Day in cooperation with Rotary International and the National Council for Women

Under the slogan " She is the goodness and blessing " and on the occasion of the celebration of International Women's Day, the community service and environmental development sector at Ain Shams University was organized under the auspices of Prof. The Women Empowerment Committee is sponsored by the Governor of the Rotary District 2451, Engineer Yasser Nashaat, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mustafa Mortada, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Prof. Dr. Rasha Al-Didi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Community Service and Environmental Development, coordinated by Dr. Somaya Sabry, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Faculty of Arts, and Engineer Hanan Zaki, member of the National Council For Women and Assistant Governor of the Rotary Region 2451 A celebration was held in the presence of the President of Rotary International / Shekar Mehta and his wife, and in cooperation with the National Council for Women headed by Dr. Maya Morsi.

         
   
         

The celebration included a number of activities, including a symposium for the people of the neighborhood to change negative behaviors, in addition to reviewing the products of the clubs and their success in providing a source of livelihood for the Egyptian woman, as well as the opening of the training of neighborhood girls and the start of the production of amigurumi brides.

The celebration activities also included an exhibition of the art of young interactives at the headquarters of the Youth Sports City in the Al-Asmarat neighborhood.

         
   
         

An exhibition was also held for women owners of small projects such as handicrafts and arts of a cultural nature and heritage such as jewelry and crochet, where Rotary aims to adopt these projects starting from facilitating ways to learn these handicrafts and ending with empowering women financially by financing these projects until they come to light. In addition, the side had volunteering and community participation is a big factor in bringing joy; Male and female students from the English Department of the Faculty of Arts participated in organizing the event and cooperating with members of the Rotary Club. They also celebrated the women of Al-Asmarat neighborhood, between organizing awareness seminars on women’s health and the safety of their children, and advice for them about a healthy family life. Then to the organization of the cheerful popular parades that drew smiles on the faces of girls and ladies in the neighborhood and on the faces of their children.

The participants stressed the importance of volunteer work and the need to spread a culture of community participation and its positive impact on Egyptian society as a whole and on the university experience of young people in particular.
