The activities of the 10th annual scientific conference of Ain Shams University were concluded, entitled “The University as an Anchor of Development ... Towards the New Republic”, under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University and President of the Conference, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Deputy University President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, which lasted from March 29-31.
The closing session witnessed by Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Abdul Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Stephen Davisan, Vice President of Cambridge, and a group of deans, vice deans of faculties, rapporteurs of the conference sectors and media professionals.
In his speech during the closing session, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh stressed on the diversity of conference sessions, noting that this year’s conference was distinguished by innovative ideas that were discussed through sessions of the various sectors of the conference, in addition to the Middle East Research Center conference and the first conference of the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit. The opening session also discussed the climate changes the world is going through and politics.
Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh thanked the rapporteurs of the different sectors for their efforts to make the conference a success, appealing to the conference participants to evaluate the positives of the conference to support it and to present proposals and ideas that would add to the next conference.
Dr. Ayman Saleh said that the conference, which lasted for 3 days, witnessed 49 sessions, during which 168 lectures and research were presented, by 291 speakers, including 21 speakers from outside Egypt, 50 speakers from outside Ain Shams.
The number of attendees in the conference amounted to 1110 actual attendance, 6530 online attendances, and 8,352 attendances via social networking sites.
Also Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, reviewed the most active sectors of the conference, pointing out that online attendance was greater in most sectors, noting that the nationalities that witnessed the conference via the Internet were from 29 countries.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Abdul-Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, said that the students had a remarkable attendance at the conference sessions, noting that discussion sessions would be held with students on the important topics raised at the conference to maximize benefit.
At the conclusion of the celebration, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, and Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud honored Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sultan, Professor at Western Michigan University, USA, Director of Earth Sciences and Remote Sensing, USA, in appreciation of his active participation during the conference.
