The "Ain Shams Innovates" competition concluded its third edition for 2022, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector, Prof. Dr. Diaa Khalil, General Supervisor of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Behairy, Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Prof. Dr. Weaim Mahmoud, Deputy Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Prof. Dr. Ayman Farid, Director of the Employment Center, and Prof. Dr. Nevin Assem, Director of the Training and Development Center, and a group of deans and vice deans of faculties.
The participation of Al-Alsun Faculty for the second year came within the framework of the faculty’s interest, represented by the interest of Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Attia, Vice Dean of Graduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Nasser Abdel-Aal, Vice Dean of Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Radwa Kteit, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Support Unit, spread the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among members of the Faculty of Al-Alsun community, including students, student activities, initiatives and faculty staff, and the belief of the Faculty of Al-Alsun in the necessity of creating a supportive atmosphere for innovative discussions and creating a forum for creative ideas within the community of Al-Alsun Faculty, with keenness to link innovation and science humanity.
During the competitions, researcher Aya Omran, a teaching assistant at the English Department at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, won first place in the researchers track - the humanities sector for her innovation Tehut, the first platform of its kind that provides self-training services or joint training for interpreters, whether simultaneous or simultaneous, students or beginners or professionals, by using artificial intelligence techniques to determine the degree of difficulty of the audio materials chosen by the trainee, as well as providing tools that help the trainee to prepare properly and prepare specialized glossaries with high efficiency and speed.
The platform is also a link between interpreters and different clients on the one hand, and trainers and trainees on the other hand, as well as between translation booth colleagues, clients and veteran trainers in this field.
The path of researchers includes distinguished research ideas from Ain Shams University researchers with the aim of building a research community and encouraging innovation.
The researchers presented their projects to a group of arbitrators and received practical training in the field of entrepreneurship that qualifies them to take their projects to advanced stages rather than just academic research, the qualifiers who had reached the semi-finals from the Faculty of Al-Alsun: Dr. Reham Amer, Assistant Professor of Linguistics, Department of Italian Language, with its creation of the "Arabic Vocabulary Network", researcher Marwa Soliman, Master's Researcher in the Department of English, with its creation of "Text to Speech for the International Phonetic Alphabet", and researcher Mai Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, Demonstrator in the Department of Korean Language, with its creation of Learner's Corpus And researcher Aya Omran, a teaching assistant in the Department of English, with her first-place innovation, Tehut.
And qualified for the semi-finals in the startups track, each of Dr. Samar Mounir, a teacher in the German language department at her startup "Momayezoon", an application that serves people of determination; Dr. Nermin Chawki, and her RadioSpazio Italia project, which aims to create an Internet radio channel to teach the Italian language and train students in proper speech through cultural and educational programs in Italian; and Dr. Mayada Badawi and her startup Kadol teach languages, especially Japanese, in innovative ways. Dr. Samar Mounir managed to reach the finals with her project "Momayzoon" among the top 5 startup projects at the level of Ain Shams University.
This competition comes within the framework of Ain Shams University's interest in supporting the innovation and entrepreneurship system and supporting student activities, which are in line with the State's Plan for Sustainable Development 2030, which emphasizes the importance of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship and their use to link the educational and research process.
It is worth noting that this is the second year in a row that Al-Alsun Faculty has won first place in the researchers’ track in the humanities sector Last year, Youmna Bariqa, a master's researcher in the Department of English, won the first place with her invention of a notebook as the first computer tool. The Innovation Club “iClub” of Al-Alsun Faculty students also had an active participation in organizing the activities of the Ain Shams Innovate competition for the year 2022. In addition to their participation in the organizing committee, the Innovation Club participated in managing the Cross-cultural Innovation session, where they organized games and competitions for international students Including learning about the culture of each expatriate, the identity of his country, the most important industries in it, and the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in the renaissance of his country.
The students also attended a marketing workshop with the aim of introducing them to the most important principles of marketing science and how to use this science in implementing their innovative ideas and projects.
