Prof. Dr. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, President of Ain Shams University, announced a new achievement of the university in improving the competitive position of the university in the international classifications, where Ain Shams University ranked second in the Egyptian universities in the Spanish classification "SCImago" based on the strength of the impact of international research in Scoups database of 2019.
He added that the progress made by Ain Shams University in this classification has contributed to improving Egypt's ranking significantly in the classification itself, with Egypt ranked 53th out of 233 countries, i.e., the top 15% of the world compared to 38th in 2017 and State No. 40 in 2011.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Students Affairs and the General Supervisor of the International Classification of the University, confirmed that Ain Shams has made progress with a rate of (8 +) to reach (605) to jump from 5th place in 2015 to second place during the current year of the Egyptian universities listed in this classification.
He added that the SCImago classification depends on several criteria in its assessment of universities, including the inclusion of at least 100 research projects this year by SCOPUS databases, the PATSTAT database, and the source of information for the Innovation Index, the Google Archiving Sites and Ahrefs.
It is worth noting that the international classification office at the university has addressed the international databases Scopus and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank to correct and unify the name of Ain Shams University in the world famous databases and international publishing sites, which contributed to increasing the number of international researches published and attributed to Ain Shams University.
