The Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University organized an introductory day for the credit hour programs, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Nasser Abdel Aal, Vice Dean of Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hala Sayed Metwally, General Coordinator of Programs at the Faculty, in the presence of a group of department heads, faculty staff and the teaching assistants, and a number of students and their parents, with the application of all intensive precautionary measures.
Chinese Language
Prof. Dr. Mervat Ali Mohamed, Head of the Chinese Language Department, explained that the specialized translation program in the Chinese language aims to provide a distinguished educational program that adopts creativity according to quality standards to meet the needs of the labor market and community service, to support Egyptian-Arab ties culturally and scientifically with China, by developing translation skills and capabilities. Research, to graduate cadres of translators and researchers specialized in everything related to specialized translation fields.
The department has Chinese professors specialized in teaching the Chinese language to foreigners. The department also holds many cultural activities and scientific competitions with the Chinese Cultural Center and the Confucius Institute under the supervision of the Chinese Educational Office in Cairo. The Chinese Language Department provides many scholarships for outstanding students, such as the Ministry grant to Peking University for a full year study.
There are many scholarships offered by the Chinese government to students of the Chinese language department to study Chinese language, culture, and literature in Chinese universities, which provides students with a great opportunity to live in Chinese society and come into contact with the people of the language themselves.
German language
Prof. Dr. Amani Kamal Saleh, Head of the German Language Department and Supervisor of the new distinguished program of credit hours “The Specialized Translation Program in German Language”, began her speech by clarifying that the ancient German Language Department at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, is one of the oldest and largest German language departments in the number of students and Faculty members and the supporting staff in Egypt and the Middle East have a constellation and elite of professors specialized in translation and have extensive experience in the field of interpretation and translation and have won several local and international awards and work with international organizations and bodies.
Prof. Dr. Amani Kamal, explained that the new translation program is a distinguished educational program that prepares cadres of specialized translators and researchers in everything related to the field of specialized translation and meets the needs of the labor market and community service in accordance with quality standards.
She also clarified the regulation and study system, the specifications of the graduate, the general conditions for admission to the program, the academic advising and the evaluation system.
She pointed to the university's important requirements for general cultural courses that refine the translator's personality and enhance his skills in professional practice in the labor market, as they include important interdisciplinary studies of the translator in arts, computers, history, geography, law, human rights, business administration, accounting, communication skills, taste in music and literature, and psychology.
As well as the compulsory faculty requirements in the Arabic and English language, the research hall, and the specialized program requirements, then it dealt with the scholarships offered to students from the German side, whether from the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD or Erasmus Plus or German universities such as the Free University of Berlin.
She then spoke about the department's international partnerships to raise the faculty and university rankings. The department offers a joint master's program in specialized translation for German and Arabic in cooperation with Leipzig University in Germany, and students of the master's program spend an entire semester at the partner university in Germany.
Spanish language
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Al-Saghir, Chairman of the Board of the Spanish Language Department, spoke about the specialized translation program in the Spanish language, and with him a group of professors in the department about the importance of the program and the extent to which it can be supported by an agreement with the University of Salamanca in Spain to train new Egyptian students on conversation and listening through some graduates of the University of Salamanca via video technology Conference, and indicated the formation of a complaints committee to solve students' problems via a dedicated email.
He stressed that it is a distinguished educational program that adopts creativity according to quality standards to meet the needs of the labor market and community service, to support the Egyptian-Arab ties culturally and scientifically with Spain and Latin American countries, by developing translation skills and research capabilities from and into Arabic, to graduate cadres of translators and researchers specialized in everything related to Specialized translation fields.
Russian language
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Nasr El-Gabali, Head of the Russian Language Department, spoke about the specialized translation program in the Russian language, explaining the importance of studying the Russian language and the job opportunities it provides for graduate students, especially in light of the recent growth of relations between Egypt and Russia, the establishment of many major joint projects and the booming tourism sector.
He also stressed the advantages offered by the department's credit hours program, as it helps prepare a graduate capable of performing the tasks of a specialized translator, and where the student receives academic support and guidance throughout the study, as the department has several future partnerships that enhance the level of graduates and open up unlimited areas for creativity in the field Specialization.
He mentioned that the Department of Russian Language is the largest in the Middle East and Africa and is supporting new departments in Russian universities with young cadres.
English language
Prof. Dr. Ahmed Siddiq, Head of the English Language Department, and the supervisor of the English Credit Hours Program at the faculty, explained the nature of the translation and interpretation program in English, and explained its focus on graduating a translator specialized in either translation, or interpretation and translation, able to deal with all kinds of translation, is familiar with the latest trends and technologies, and is highly sought after in the labor market, whether at the level of international or local institutions.
Italian Language
While Prof. Dr. Marwa Tantawy, Head of the Italian Language Department, spoke about the specialized translation program in the Italian language, explaining that the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports the department with 2 foreign experts to benefit the students not only linguistically but also to find job opportunities for them, and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides the department’s library with the latest Educational and cultural books and in translation sciences are free of charge, given that the department is one of the oldest Italian departments in the Middle East and its inception is linked to the establishment of the faculty 1956/1957, pointing out that the program focuses on translation courses in different areas of life using technology to keep pace with the developments of the times, explaining that there are two cooperation protocols with the most prestigious universities, there are a selection of professors in the department who obtained their doctorate from abroad who have experience with everything new in the labor market, there are also many job opportunities for graduates, especially in the field of industry, trade and gas, but the student’s skills must be developed through This program is specially designed for graduating a student who is fluent in oral and written translation.
French language
While Prof. Dr. Rania Hassan, Head of the French Language Department, referred to the translation and interpretation program in French, as the French Department is the first department that was established in the faculty and includes a large number of professors who have won international awards such as the Knight Medal from the French Embassy and international publishing awards, and some of them cooperate in Simultaneous translation with international organizations. Graduates of the program can also complete postgraduate studies in France at the École Normale Supérieure for Translators and Interpreters.
It should be noted that the department cooperates with the Francophone University Agency by holding joint workshops for students and participating in international competitions organized by the Agency.
