The Supreme Council of Universities held its regular meeting, headed by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, at Suez University, in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Latif Secretary of the Council and members of the Council.
The council thanked the family of Suez University, headed by Dr. El-Sayed Al-Sharqawi, President of the University, for hosting the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research referred to his meeting with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, to present the future strategy for higher education and scientific research in Egypt, and mechanisms for activating the role of universities in supporting sustainable development issues in all sectors in the country. Appreciating the President's support for the higher education and scientific research system, as well as the cooperation of all state agencies, which had the best impact on upgrading the higher education and scientific research system in Egypt quantitatively and qualitatively, and its positive impact on the international classification of Egyptian universities.
The Minister also referred to the launch of the national strategy for intellectual property under the auspices of the President of the Republic. community needs and contribute to building the Egyptian economy.
The Minister praised the efforts of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology in preparing and organizing the visit of Mr. Darren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization to Egypt, and arranging a number of field visits for his Excellency at universities and research centers to see the latest innovations, innovations and inventions of the scientific research system in Egypt, as well as arranging a number of meetings With the relevant ministers, to support aspects of cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization during the coming period, and the culmination of this visit by the meeting of the Director of the Organization with the President of the Republic.
On the level of readiness of universities and institutes to start the school year on the first of next October, the Minister of Higher Education affirmed the readiness of all universities to start the 2023-2022 school year, and to provide all logistical needs that ensure the regularity of the successful educational process, as well as the readiness of the halls, classrooms, laboratories and university cities, and to confirm To follow all safety and security standards in all university facilities, to ensure a safe learning environment for students.
The Minister directed the commitment of all members of the teaching staff and the supporting body to be present on the campus from the first day of study, to ensure the regularity of the successful educational process. He also directed the rapid announcement of study schedules before the start of the new academic year; To ensure the regularity of study in all faculties.
The Minister directed universities to continue implementing awareness programs for students about the Corona virus, and to encourage them to obtain booster doses in order to ensure their safety.
The minister also directed the readiness of all university hospitals to provide an outstanding medical service to students, faculty and staff, in conjunction with the start of the new academic year 2022/2023.
The Minister directed the development of executive plans for cultural, artistic and sports activities, for their effective role in developing students’ skills in all fields, and developing students’ understanding of the contemporary challenges facing the country, as well as organizing field visits to major national projects implemented by the state in various sectors, as well as paying attention to holding cultural seminars and workshops Work aimed at developing students’ national awareness and combating abnormal concepts and ideas that contradict the tolerant religious beliefs and the authentic societal legacies of the Egyptian people, as well as the cooperation of universities with the Center for the Care of Gifted and Talented in the Ministry, to organize sports, cultural and artistic events and activities for students, and to support and discover talented students in The artistic, literary, scientific, technological and sports fields and their sponsorship, and the circulation of specific programs to meet their needs, develop their capabilities, and enhance their belonging to their homeland. He also directed to increase the efforts of universities to eradicate illiteracy in cooperation with the General Authority for Adult Education; To activate the role of universities in community service and environmental development.
Dr. Adel Abdel Ghaffar, Media Adviser and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Higher Education, said that the Council listened to a presentation by Professor Aya Omar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Decent Life Foundation. Field visits to university students for the "Decent Life" projects, discussion and dialogue with university youth on the initiative's executive projects, and the employment of students' graduation projects to serve the initiative. He stressed the importance of increasing the participation of universities in supporting the "Decent Life" initiative during the coming period.
The official spokesman added that the council listened to a presentation by Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, about the executive ministry's plan to enrich the Wikipedia platform with prestigious Egyptian symbols, which contributed to enriching academic life, and is a role model.

The spokesperson added that the council agreed to allow a transitional period of 6 months from the date of the start of the work of the scientific committees with the new formation, starting from September 2022 until the end of February 2023, during which the rules of the 13th session will be applied, with the possibility of applying the rules of the 14th session in the event that the applicant wishes to be promoted on the new rules.
The Council approved a draft agreement between Cairo University and the Francophone University Agency, to host the university's National Office of the Agency in Egypt, and the Francophone Employability Center in Cairo.
The Council reviewed a report on field visits to colleges and institutes that have been studied in during the last ten years, and which are affiliated to the committees of the sectors (medicine - science - computer science and informatics - social service).
