Climate changes, the carbon footprint and the university's efforts to transform into a green university... A symposium at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University

Under the auspices of Prof‎. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Student Education Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President of Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Amani Osama Kamel, Dean of the Faculty ‎ of Pharmacy, and in the presence of Prof. Dr. Khaled Abu Shanab, Vice Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Rehab Othman, Vice Dean of Student Education Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Rola Milad, Vice Dean of Community Service Affairs and Environmental Development, faculty staff, the teaching assistants, staff and students, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University, organized a symposium on climate change, the carbon footprint and the university’s efforts to transform into a green university, during which Dr. Amal Thabet teacher of entomology, Department of Agricultural and Environmental ‎Sciences, Faculty of Environmental Studies and Research, Ain Shams University, gave a lecture

The symposium dealt with the concept of the carbon footprint, and solutions to reduce it and how to calculate it, and all the attendees calculated it to know the extent of their personal impact on the environment, the concept of climate changes and the difference between weather and climate, and the reasons for the emergence of carbon emissions and greenhouse gases, which led to the formation of a layer of gases outside Within the atmosphere, this resulted in a rise in surface temperatures, the death of aquatic organisms, and a rise in the level of ocean waters.

She added that the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ihub) at Ain Shams University holds an "EDGE ADVANCED" certificate, as the first building in the Arab Republic of Egypt that aims to reduce the environmental impact of buildings in (Direct energy consumption, water consumption, and energy footprint of building materials)

She concluded that the symposium comes within the efforts of Ain Shams University to contribute to Egypt's preparations to host the World Climate Change Summit "COP 27" from 6 to 18 November in Sharm El Sheikh.
