Women and the Green Transformation... An initiative of the Women's Support Unit at Ain Shams University to develop awareness of climate change

Within the framework of Ain Shams University’s keenness to increase the awareness of the university community, including students, staff and faculty members, about issues related to climate change, coinciding with Egypt’s hosting of the International Conference on Climate Change in Sharm El Sheikh Cop27, the Women’s Support and Anti-Violence Unit at the university adopted the “Women and Green Transformation” initiative, which aims To develop the awareness of female students, university workers and faculty members of the negative effects of climate change, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President for Community Service Affairs This was stated by Dr. Hind Al-Hilali, Director of the Unit.

She added that the initiative includes a set of introductory seminars to develop the capabilities of women and girls on how to reduce carbon emissions through some daily practices inside or outside the home, followed by workshops to develop women's capabilities to work on some environmentally friendly small and micro projects that aim to reduce carbon emissions and then Contribute to solving the problem of climate change, such as training in waste recycling and rooftop cultivation, in cooperation with the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research and the University's Sustainability Unit.

Dr. Hind Al-Helali explained that the first activities of the initiative will start on October 16 at the Faculty of Arts, followed by October 20 at the Faculty of Specific Education and on October 31 at the Faculty of Environmental Studies and Research.
