Security and safety and how to conduct the evacuation experience. A symposium at the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies for Childhood at Ain Shams University

The Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at the Faculty of Graduate Studies for Childhood at Ain Shams University organized an awareness seminar entitled "Security and Safety and How to Conduct an Eviction Experiment", under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Howaida Al-Jabali, Dean of the Faculty, and organized and supervised by Prof. Dr. Randa Kamal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, attended the symposium, Lt. Col. Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Hamid, Director of the Civil Defense Department at the university.

In the presence of a group of faculty staff, the teaching assistants, administrators, and students in the three scientific departments of the faculty.

Prof. Dr. Howayda Al-Jabali, Dean of the Faculty, expressed her happiness at organizing these events, stressing that the symposium comes from the faculty 's keenness to provide all means of security and safety for all those present in it, wishing for more aspects of cooperation between the Faculty and the Civil Defense Department at the University.

         
   
         

Thanked Prof. Dr. Howayda Al-Jabali Prof. Dr. Randa Kamal Abdel Raouf, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, for organizing this symposium, selecting topics that affect security and safety, and applying all standards required to achieve security and safety for all employees and students in the faculty.

She also commended the efforts of Prof. Asst. Dr. Moamen Jabr, Director of the Crisis and Disaster Management Unit at the faculty, to participate in all the activities of the faculty and to respond quickly to implement all the requirements and works entrusted to him, noting that the Faculty of Graduate Studies for Childhood is a faculty rich in its human resources that contributed to the discipline of its system at all times, especially during the Corona pandemic. Which was among the factors for obtaining the faculty’s quality and accreditation.

Pro. Dr. Randa Kamal, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development at the faculty, presented lecture, explaining that the meeting is necessary to educate all those present and workers in the college buildings to familiarize them with the necessary steps to implement the proactive plan to confront any emergencies or disasters and to publish the emergency plan and the concepts of security and safety among them, hoping that there will be a series of seminars that discuss Topics related to security and safety so that each individual in the college has sufficient information to protect him from any dangers that occur in the facility and to have an effective role in the security and safety system.

   
   

During the events, Lt. Col. Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Hamid, Director of the Civil Defense Department, and the lecturer of the symposium, explained the concept of risk, which is any event that can cause loss or disability, and reviewed the types of risks, which include (physical, biological, chemical risks).

He also presented what is meant by security and safety as a set of procedures that preserve both the worker and the facility in which he works from any material damage or realized risks that disrupt the production wheel and work in various fields, noting that it is necessary to carry out periodic inspections of workplaces and to establish means of prevention. From work risks and damages and recording them in a special register that can be referenced and followed up and designing an annual plan for safety programs.

Lieutenant-Colonel Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Hamid suggested that workers be trained to raise their level of performance, raise their awareness of the risks in the work environment and ways to prevent them, follow up and record any accidents and write a report on them explaining their causes and including preventive precautions to avoid recurrence, inspecting workplaces, and preparing a report on working conditions. Providing means of fire prevention or firefighting and rescue devices and distributing them to the buildings, departments, and roles of the college, preparing graphic statistics on accidents and injuries, informing staff, faculty members and students of the risks, and training them on the use of methods of preventing the causes of accidents or any disasters.

At the conclusion of the symposium, each of Prof. Dr. Howayda Al-Jabali, Prof. Dr. Randa Kamal honored Lt. Col. Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Hamid and awarded him the College Shield in appreciation of his efforts.
