The Faculty of Medicine celebrates the World Diabetes Day

Within the framework of the celebration of the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University on World Diabetes Day, the Faculty organized a marathon for the faculty staff, students, and employees of the Faculty, the university, and its affiliated colleges, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President for Community Service and Development Affairs Environment, Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hospitals, and Prof. Dr. Hala Sweid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development.

         
   
         

Prof. Dr. Hala Sweid explained that the goal of the marathon is to encourage movement and activity, adding that the activities also included awareness of diabetes, how to live with it, and how to prevent it, as well as measuring sugar (random and cumulative) for participants, and measuring weight, muscle and fat percentage through the inbody device.

         
   
         

It is noteworthy that World Diabetes Day is a global campaign to raise awareness of diabetes, which is held annually on November 14, and this date coincides with the birth of Frederick Banting, the doctor who helped discover insulin in 1922.
