Major General Staff Officer Dr. Samir Farag answers the question of where is Egypt going... in a symposium from inside Ain Shams University

Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, opened the symposium "Egypt to Where: Challenges and Achievements", which was presented by the strategic expert, Major General Staff Officer Dr. Samir Farag, and the symposium was moderated by Khaled Saad, the chief broadcaster on Egyptian TV.

During the symposium, which witnessed a large student presence, Major General Staff Officer Dr. Samir Farag gave his lecture by expressing his pride in organizing and chairing the Arab Republic of Egypt for the Conference of the Parties to the Climate Summit COP27, referring to the gains achieved by the Egyptian state at all levels that put Egypt on the map of the great countries in the world, whose name is mentioned globally for more than 15 days, which is an event added to Egypt a regional and international value.

Major General Staff Officer Dr. Samir Farag spoke about Egyptian international relations with the United States of America, Russia, France, Italy, and Britain and the effects of those relations as a reflection of the distant circles of Egyptian national security.

He dealt with the close Egyptian national security circles, the Egyptian state's relationship with the Nile Basin countries, the Renaissance Dam crisis, and how the Egyptian state dealt with this file and talked about the containment strategy, both military and political, for the Nile Basin countries.

He provided evidence with a full explanation of the methods of fourth and fifth-generation warfare, thanking Ain Shams University for its efforts and activities to raise awareness among its students about the seriousness of the systematic and organized methods aimed at questioning the capabilities of the Egyptian state, its media, and its leaders.

During the symposium was organized by the Education and Student Affairs Sector headed by Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of the University, and supervised its organization Mr. Ibrahim Saeed, Director General of the Office of the Vice President of the University, and attended by a group of male and female students from the University City Sector, students of military education, and students of the Family for Central Egypt Major General Staff Officer Dr. Samir Farag, who graduated from the Military Academy with honors in 1963 and joined the infantry, rose to the position of commander of a mechanized infantry division. He also graduated from the Egyptian War Staff Faculty in 1973, and then joined the Royal Kimberley Faculty of War Staff in England in 1974, and was appointed as a teacher there upon his graduation, thus becoming the first officer from outside NATO and the Commonwealth to be appointed to this position.

He also obtained a Bachelor of Arts, History Department, from Ain Shams University in 1979, a Business Administration Diploma from the United States of America in 1982, and a Ph.D. in “The Role of the Media in Preparing the State to Achieve Egyptian National Security.”

He also held many positions in the Egyptian Armed Forces in the Operations Authority and the Military Research Authority and worked as a teacher at the Infantry Institute and a teacher at the Faculty of Command and Staff. He was also appointed director of the Office of the Director General of Military Intelligence and participated in the October 1973 war, where he was an operations officer in “Center 10” within Operations the General Command of the Armed Forces and he was the youngest officer in age and rank at that time.

He was the director of the Department of Morale Affairs of the Egyptian Armed Forces for a period of 7 years from 1993 to 2000. He was also appointed as a military expert to Turkey from 1990 to 1993, in addition to assuming some civilian positions, including the presidency of the Supreme Council of the city of Luxor in 2004, and in 2009 he was appointed to transform it into a governorate, he appointed its first governor and held this position until 2011. He also held the position of director of the Egyptian Opera House from 2000 to 2004.

The lecture of Major General Staff Officer Dr. Samir Farag was followed by opening the door for dialogue with the students and then gifted him the university shield. The university shield was also presented to the great journalist Khaled Saad in appreciation of his role in spreading awareness through his well-known program "Al-Multaqa", which is broadcast on Egyptian television.
