Honoring Prof. Abdul Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Students at Witwatersrand, South Africa

Within the framework of the pivotal role that the Egyptian state plays in supporting the brown continent "Africa", and in continuation of the role of Ain Shams University in spreading science and knowledge throughout the world, especially the continent of Africa, Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Professor of Orthopedics and Spine at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, President of the International Society for Spine Surgery, and Vice President of Ain Shams University for Education and Student Affairs from the Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg, South Africa, which is one of the largest universities ranked globally in a number of well-known international classifications. This was after his successful participation in teaching in the fourth scientific course for training spine surgeons organized by the Medical College of the University of the Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Over the course of two consecutive days, Prof. Abdel Fattah Mohamed Fathi Saoud, in this important scientific course for 45 surgeons from South Africa and seven other African countries in the field of spine surgery, where the latest methods, techniques, surgical strategies and the latest science findings in this field were highlighted.

Prof. Abdel-Fattah Saoud delivered several lectures on the surgical repair of deformities of the spine and the surgical fixation of fractures of the sacrum bone (a method invented by His Excellency and registered in his name in all international scientific references).

During the important international scientific session, the participants praised the efforts of the Egyptian state in various fields and its relentless endeavors to meet the need of African countries in order to integrate each of the sustainable development goals, the 2030 Agenda and the 2063 Agenda related to the national development plans of the African continent.

The participants emphasized that Ain Shams University, its scholars, and its medical sector in general have white hands on the experience of the South African surgeons and pushed them towards providing a better medical service, which is consistent with Egypt's permanent position to stand by its brothers from African countries and proves that Ain Shams University is moving in line with the state's directions Egyptian view of the African continent as the strategic depth of Egypt.

Prof. Abdul Fattah Saoud was keen to enrich his scientific and medical specialization in the field of orthopedic medicine and surgery, in addition to his leadership role in assuming the responsibility of heading the education and student affairs sector, as he participates periodically as a main lecturer in a number of international scientific and medical events; With the aim of transferring his expertise to young doctors around the world and training and qualifying them at the highest level; This prompts new medical cadres in the field of orthopedic and spine surgeries around the world, especially within the African continent.

His Excellency participates annually in the aforementioned course, in addition to his participation in the joint international conference between the Korean Society of Spine Surgery and the World Society of Spine Surgery, and the spine surgery course at the Spine Institute in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, in which Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud lectures for more than 17 years, in addition to the spine surgery course at the German University of Saarland, which is one of the most important and largest courses in Europe, during which the most skilled spine surgeons in the world teach the latest and most accurate spine surgeries, especially minimally invasive surgeries.

It is worth noting that Prof. Abdel-Fattah Saoud, the owner of a distinguished scientific school in orthopedics and spine surgery, where he succeeded in recording many innovations known and internationally registered in his name in the field of spine surgery, including the creation of a surgery to fix the sacrum with medical screws in an innovative way that is now mentioned in international references and is being studied around the world.

His Excellency also previously chaired the International Society for Spine Surgery, as well as establishing and assuming the presidency of the Egyptian Center for Training in Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University.
