Today... Ain Shams University celebrates the International Day of the Arabic Language for the 2nd year

Today, Ain Shams University celebrates, for the second year in a row, the International Arabic Language Day, under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President of Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President of Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President of Community Service and Environmental Development, under the slogan (Arab Culture Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow is Life and Enjoyment); And in the presence of Eng. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications, Prof. Ahmed Dalal, President of the American University, and a group of ambassadors from Arab and foreign countries; in the main campus of the university.

         
   
         

The celebration includes reciting poetry by the great poet Dr. Ahmed Taymur, various artistic performances by the university choir, Arabic music, Tanoura performances, Harmony Team, On Team, Kayan Children's Choir, folk arts for the university team, as well as religious chanting and hymns for the university team, in addition to a poetry meeting for the representatives of the International Union of Poets, who are:

Followed by a concert by Prof. Mounir Nasr El Din, former dean of the Conservatoire, professor of violin and the Sweet Sound Team

Today also witnesses the honoring of Prof. Mohamed Nasser Qutbi, with a presentation of the writers of a message from Norway, Jamal and Sakina, and lessons honoring the pioneers of Arabic writing, who are:

Ibrahim Abdel Majeed recipient of the Nile Prize

Prof. Youssef Nofal, recipient of the State Appreciation Award

Writer and novelist Dr. Mohamed Al-Mansi Qandil, winner of the State Appreciation Award last year.

The results of the competition will also be announced, and the winners of the Arabic language competition (words and poems) and a religious chant by the vocalist Ahmed Al-Naqshbandi will be honored.

         
   
         

On the sidelines of the celebration, exhibitions of libraries and publishing houses will be held, a plastic arts exhibition for students of Ain Shams University, a book fair in cooperation with the General Book Authority, a book exhibition for cultural palaces, a plastic arts exhibition at the Egyptian Opera House in cooperation with the Arabic Calligraphy Association, an exhibition of plastic arts for students and professors of the Faculty of Specific Education, an exhibition of the Cartoonists Association, an exhibition of Prof. Ashraf Al-Asar, an exhibition of Prof. Mohamed Nasir Qutbi, and the paintings of Mr. Naji Al-Naji, the cultural advisor to Palestine.

The celebration concludes with a series of cultural symposiums in the Grand Conference Hall of the Faculty of Pharmacy, it begins with the Arabic language as a diplomatic tool in a new Arab and international reality, hosting Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

- Seminar: Ancient Egyptian Languages and Their Effects on the Arabic Language, by Prof. Mamdouh El-Damaty, Minister of Antiquities and former Dean of the Faculty of Archeology

- Seminar: The Arabic Language and Identity between Literature and Reality, by Prof. Reem Bassiouni, Professor and Chair of the Linguistics Department at the American University in Cairo, Dr. Mark Malhauslor, Head of the Center for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies at the American University in Cairo

- Symposium on the Arabic language, media and foreigners. Sawsan Hassan, the former head of Egyptian TV, journalist and media writer Mrs. Mona Ragab, a journalist at Al-Ahram newspaper, president of the Egyptian Women Writers Association, and a member of the Supreme Council of Culture, Writer and journalist Mrs. Samir Omar, Cairo bureau chief for Sky News Arabia and Egypt's ambassador to the European Union, and Journalist and reporter Abdel Basir Hassan _ Senior Correspondent at BBC News Arabia in Cairo.
