Ain Shams University celebrates International Arabic Language Day in the presence of the university president, ambassadors, and delegations from Arab and foreign countries

For the second year in a row, Ain Shams University organized its major celebration on the occasion of the International Day of the Arabic Language, under the auspices and presence of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Ghada Farouk, Acting Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.

The celebration, which came under the slogan (Arab culture yesterday, today and tomorrow is a life of enjoyment), was attended by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Dalal, President of the American University in Egypt, Professor of Arabic, and a group of gentlemen ambassadors of Arabic-speaking and non-Arabic-speaking countries, including the ambassadors of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Mauritania, Iraq, the Sultanate of Oman, Azerbaijan, representatives of the UAE and South Korean embassy, the representative of the Chinese embassy (the plenipotentiary minister), members of the Libyan embassy, and gentlemen deans and agents of faculties, students on the main campus of the university.

In his speech during the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, greeted the attendees, and thanked the celebration preparation team headed by Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, stressing the keenness of Ain Shams University to pay attention to the student and cultural activities along with science, student education, scientific research, innovation, and creativity, expressing his pride for the university's possession of the East Spirit Choir, which was able to win many awards, and several choral bands were established like him.

On the International Day of Celebration in the Arabic language, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini explained that he coincides with the issuance of the General Assembly of the United Nations on December 18, 1973, its decision to include the Arabic language within the group of official languages in force in the United Nations, despite the fact that the largest percentage of the member states of the United Nations Council speak other languages, referring to The university's celebration in the Arabic language includes several activities of plastic art, poetry, music, and prose, wishing the audience an enjoyable day.

The President of Ain Shams University mourned Prof. Dr. Salah Fadl, Professor of Literature and Criticism at the Faculty of Arts and Head of the Arabic Language Academy, who passed away a few days ago.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, welcomed the attendees and honorees and emphasized that December 18 of each year is a feast day for the celebration of the Arabic language, which he described as the accurate language in describing things and conditions, where one word has more than one synonym. All of them are beautiful synonyms in expression, and the goal of celebrating the International Day of the Arabic Language is to show its linguistic creations.

Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh confirmed the need to return to our Arabic language, which has been neglected for many years, indicating that the beauty of life comes from the multiplicity of tongues and the multiplicity of languages, and that God - the Almighty - made us different peoples and tribes in everything in order to get to know each other, and that multilingualism is the most prominent of these differences.

At the end of his speech, he mourned the head of the Arabic Language Academy, Prof. Dr. Salah Fadl, who is considered one of the most prominent figures in the field of the Arabic language in Egypt and the Arab world.

The participants in the celebration also gave speeches during which they expressed their happiness with their participation in the university’s celebration of the International Day of the Arabic Language, where His Excellency Ambassador Sayed Muhammad Muhammad Abdullah, Ambassador of the State of Mauritania affirmed that Mauritania is proud of the Arabic language and that a country with a million poets speaks poetry in classical Arabic, and this is an indication Mauritania's keenness to learn the Arabic language.

The South Korean ambassador to Cairo, Hong Jin Rok, also spoke and expressed his happiness at being in an Arab country. Pointing out that South Korea has many students learning the Arabic language, and that the Korean people love Egyptian songs and repeat them to their ears a lot, and this is a great indication of the love of the Arabic language among our people.

In the speech of the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Cairo, Khairat Lama Sharif expressed his thanks and appreciation to the President of the University for this kind invitation. He also offered to organize a competition in which all ambassadors would participate in a debate in the field of the Arabic language.

The Minister Plenipotentiary, the representative of the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, expressed his happiness for his participation and conveyed the Chinese state's pride in its cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt in all fields. He also indicated that there are 50 universities in China with Arabic language departments and that China celebrates the International Day of the Arabic Language every year.

Mrs. Iman Al-Hosani, Technical Attaché at the Education and Technology Attaché at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Cairo, expressed her happiness for attending this great celebration. Ammar Al-Mualla, attaché of education and technology sciences, at Ain Shams University.

In her speech, she emphasized the importance of paying attention to the Arabic language, because it is the language of the Holy Qur’an and the language of our Arab peoples, through the word, communication takes place, ideas and concepts converge, and the importance of continuing these activities to enhance the Arabic language in the future.

It is noteworthy that Ain Shams University's celebration of the International Day of the Arabic Language, which was held on the university's main campus, included various artistic activities for the university choir, Arabic music, Tanoura performances, Harmony team, Kayan children's choir, folk arts for the university team, as well as religious chanting and hymns for the team of the university.

The great poet, Dr. Ahmed Taymur, also recited several poems. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, and Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh honored him.

The representatives of the International Union of Poets also recited poems that won the admiration of the audience, namely the poet Sharifa Al-Sayed, the poet Ali Abu Salem, and the poet Sharqawi Hafez. The university celebration also included a concert by Prof. Dr. Mounir Nasr El-Din, former dean of the Conservatory, professor of violin, and the Sweet Sound team.

The pioneers of Arabic writing were also honored with their state awards this year, as Professor Dr. Youssef Nofal (State Appreciation Award), writer Ibrahim Abdel Majeed (Nile Award), Dr. Muhammad Al-Mansi Qandil, who won the State Appreciation Award last year, and Prof. Dr. Tamer Rady, Head of the Economics Department at the Faculty of Commerce at the university, and the results of the competition were announced. Also, the winners of the Arabic language competition (winning words and poems), the members of the competition jury headed by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Al-Shura, the Chairman of the Arbitration Committee, the great journalist Khaled Saad, the chief broadcaster of Egyptian TV and presenter of the celebration, and Mr. Mustafa Al-Sheikh, President of the Egyptian Cartoon Society, were honored.

On the sidelines of the celebration, exhibitions for libraries and publishing houses, a plastic art exhibition for students of Ain Shams University, a book exhibition in cooperation with the General Book Authority, a book exhibition for cultural palaces, a plastic art exhibition for the Egyptian Opera House in cooperation with the Arabic Calligraphy Association, and a plastic art exhibition for students and professors of the Faculty of Education. Quality, the exhibition of the Cartoonists Association, the exhibition of Professor Dr. Ashraf Al-Asar, the exhibition of Professor Dr. Muhammad Nasir Qutbi, and the paintings of Mr. Naji Al-Naji, the cultural advisor to Palestine, were held.

The celebration is scheduled to end this evening in the Grand Celebration Hall of the Faculty of Pharmacy with a series of cultural seminars, starting with a symposium on the Arabic language as a diplomatic tool in a new Arab and international reality, which hosts Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Director of the Public Diplomacy Department

And a symposium on "Ancient Egyptian Languages and Their Effects on the Arabic Language" presented by Prof. Dr. Mamdouh El-Damaty, Minister of Antiquities and former Dean of the Faculty of Archeology.

And another symposium entitled "The Arabic Language and Identity between Literature and Reality" presented by Prof. Dr. Reem Bassiouni, Professor and Chair of the Department of Linguistics, The American University in Cairo, and Dr. Mark Malhauslor, head of the Center for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies at the American University and directed by Prof. Dr. Osama El-Shazly, Professor of Orthopedics at the Faculty of Medicine.

And a symposium on "Arabic language, media and foreigners" hosts the media Mrs. Suzan Hassan, former president of Egyptian TV, journalist and media writer, Mrs. Mona Ragab, a journalist at Al-Ahram newspaper, president of the Egyptian Women Writers Association, member of the Supreme Council of Culture, writer and media professional, Mr. Samir Omar, director of the Sky News Arabia bureau in Cairo, Egypt's ambassador to the European Union, and media and reporter Mr. Abdul-Basir Hassan, Senior Correspondent at BBC News Arabia in Cairo, Student/ Madina Novikova (Russia), Student/ Wang Wei (China), Student/ Bakhit Jan Sagintai (Kazakhstan).

The activities of the day were concluded with the announcement of Prof. Dr. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, recommendations for an Arabic Language in a New World
