A cooperation protocol with the International Commercial Bank Foundation to finance the surgical wing of the Children's Surgery Hospital

Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, and Mr. Hisham Ezz Al-Arab, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Commercial International Bank Foundation and a member of the Board of Directors of the Commercial International Bank, signed a joint cooperation protocol with the aim of establishing and equipping a surgical ward in the “Pediatric Surgery Hospital” within the Ain Shams University Medical City project integrated, with financing amounting to 100 million pounds.

In the presence of Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board of Directors, and Prof. Tariq Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals, Samia Abdo, Deputy Director of University Hospitals, and Prof. Hala Sweed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Hebat Allah Al-Saeed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Yasser Mujahid, Director of the Center for Engineering Consultations at the University, and Prof. Jamal Hussein, consultant for construction works and Prof. Mohamed Salehin, consultant for architectural works at the Engineering Consultation Center at the university, and a Prof. Ashraf Qutub, mechanical works consultant and the team of the Engineering Consultation Center on the part of Ain Shams University. The protocol signing ceremony was attended by the Commercial International Bank Corporation, His Excellency Minister Dr. Nadia Makram Ebeid, member of the Board of Trustees of the Commercial International Bank Corporation, and Mr. Loay Amin, treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the Commercial Bank Corporation Mrs. Engy All, member of the Board of Trustees of the Commercial International Bank Foundation, Mrs. Nadia Hosni, Secretary General of the Board of Trustees of the Commercial International Bank Foundation, and Eng. Sherif Al-Saeed, Director of the Commercial International Bank Corporation, Mrs. Dina Ahmed, Senior Program Planner at the Commercial International Bank Corporation, Mrs. Lujain Hussein, Senior Program Planner at the Commercial International Bank Corporation, and Mrs. Irene Safwat, Program Planner at the Commercial International Bank Corporation.

         
   
         

The cooperation comes as a continuation of the state's interest, under the leadership of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in developing the health care system in order to raise the level of quality of services provided to all citizens, and as a continuation of the efforts of Ain Shams University and its hospitals in raising the efficiency of medical service and eliminating waiting lists. This contribution is also considered The largest in the history of the Commercial International Bank Foundation, in order to support the Egyptian child healthily and socially and to provide a distinguished service to the neediest groups of people.

The project aims to equip 10 operating rooms for the new surgical ward and to serve 30,000 children who are unable to bear the costs of treatment in private hospitals.

It is worth noting that the cooperation between the two sides began in 2010 with a project to finance the "annual operating expenses for child care units in Ain Shams University hospitals" under the management and supervision of the "Yahya Arafa Charitable Foundation for Children" with an amount of 45 million pounds, which succeeded in providing health services to about 272 thousand children, who are unable in Greater Cairo, it is renewed annually to date. In 2017, the purchase of devices for the pediatric internal department, on the fifth floor of the new children's hospital at Ain Shams University Hospitals, was funded by 589,000 Egyptian pounds to serve 93,000 children.

         
   
         

In addition, a project was funded to train a number of young cadres of doctors, nurses, technicians, and assistant positions in all children's specialties at the Children's Hospital - Ain Shams University, in cooperation with the Great Ormond Street hospital.

The protocol signing ceremony included reviewing the construction drawing of the Pediatric Surgery Hospital, as well as showing a documentary film about Ain Shams Medical City.
