Ain Shams University and the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the university are participating in the Seventh Cairo International Innovation Fair, which is held under the auspices of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Academy of Scientific Research.
The university's participation comes under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, Prof. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.
During the activities of the first day of the exhibition, Prof. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, accompanied by Prof. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Strategic Affairs, Ain Shams University wing, and they were received by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Shahira Samir, Executive Director of the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Sector, Prof. Najwa Badr, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information, and Prof. Sherawat Al-Ahmadi, Director of the Expatriate Department at the University, and Dr. Muhammad Al-Buhairi, Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Weam Mahmoud, Deputy Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Dr. Islam Adly, student activities officer at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Dr. Noha Al-Rafei, Deputy Director of the Grants and Projects Department and Coordinator of the Children's University.
The university's pavilion includes a two-day review of the most prominent inventions and innovations implemented by university students under the supervision of a group of faculty staff and teaching assitants. Among these contributions is the robotic nurse Shams, which was implemented by students of the Faculty of Computing and Information Science in cooperation with the Faculty of Nursing. It speaks Arabic and can recognize faces, whether they are sick or doctors, it can also deal with the patient's needs, enter the health status data for each patient, and can save places inside the hospital for easy movement according to the desired destination. It can take the necessary samples for analysis and deliver them to the laboratory, bring the medicine from the pharmacy and give it to the patient, and he can carry out communication between the patient and the treating doctor through the video call feature, and he also performs sterilization operations.
In addition to the participation of the ASUWind team from the Faculty of Engineering with wind turbines, which won the first place in the award for the highest annual energy production in the international competition for small wind turbines for university students, which is held annually in the Netherlands.
The innovation of the students of the Faculty of Computers and Information Science was also presented, which is an electric wheelchair for people with special needs based on artificial intelligence technology, where this chair allows people with special needs who are unable to move and those who are paralyzed completely or halfway to control the movement of the chair through thinking, as brain signals are translated into movement as soon as the person thinks or feels his desire to move.
An electric car that was converted into a self-driving car for use within small urban communities using artificial intelligence and advanced sensors is also participating in the Ain Shams University pavilion, as a continuation of a previous project to convert an electric bus into a self-driving bus.
The Ain Shams University pavilion included the presentation of a group of research and applied activities in which the university participated in the Cop27 climate summit, in addition to presenting the students' activities and outputs from the I challenge program from semi-industrial applied projects with the participation of various university faculties, in addition to the students' outputs in the "Ain Shams Innovates competition ", and the various programs offered by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center in cooperation with industry partners
The Ain Shams University pavilion participating in the exhibition was organized by ASU-iClub student activity students.
It is noteworthy that the Cairo International Innovation Fair is held annually, and its first edition was launched in 2014.
