The Department of Spanish at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, at Ain Shams University, organized a day for graduates under the auspices of Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, and the supervision of Prof. Mohamed Al-Sagheer Temsah, Head of the Department, to celebrate the department’s old and recent graduates within the framework of the department’s commitment to quality accreditation programs and linking education to the Egyptian labor market.
The ceremony was attended by many prominent personalities with social weight from business owners in various fields such as tourism, education, radio, social networks, and customer service. Those personalities gave their words in which they expressed their happiness with this successful event and wished that such an event would continue to be held at the same time every year.
The activities began with the recitation of some Quranic verses by the student Salah Ahmed, and the ceremony continued with the presentation of some short documentaries about the history, vision, and goals of the department, then some memorial photos were shown for all the batches that graduated from it.
This was followed by an introduction to the former heads of the department whom God Almighty passed away, and the department presented them with certificates of honor in gratitude for their kindness and the advancement of their work in the service of knowledge and work. These certificates were received by some relatives or attendees present at the ceremony, then the administrative structure and the scientific body of the Spanish language department were introduced by the teachers and the teaching assistant either.
And Prof. Muhammad Al-Saghir, Head of the Department Council, welcomed the attendees and expressed the department’s happiness with this unique ceremony, as it is the first organized by the Department of Spanish Language, and it is also the first in the Faculty of Al-Alsun, indicating that this event falls within the framework of the department’s implementation of quality accreditation programs to link the past with the present and communicate with The members of the department who have a long experience in many practical fields and many important contributions on the land of Egypt.
The department began working four years ago, with diligent work to obtain programmatic accreditation, by constantly amending the regulations, reducing the time of theoretical courses, increasing the number of hours of listening, speaking, and language studies, and working to reduce the number of students enrolled in the department to raise the quality of the educational message, also through the application of hybrid education systems and self-learning for students through the electronic platform.
Also, developing postgraduate curricula to raise the level of the assistant staff and assistant teachers, and participating in many training courses to keep pace with the current development.
Also among the achievements is the preparation of a database for the department's graduates through forms that were sent to collect information from the graduates.
Seminars and conferences were held with the participation of the Association of Those Interested in Spanish Culture in Egypt, under the supervision of Prof. Nagwa Mahrez.
As well as publishing all of these scientific and practical developments and achievements on the department's electronic page as a link between the department and its members, preparing the annual employment forum to provide job opportunities for recent graduates, as well as preparing distinguished programs for translation studies that students enroll in with fees, and creating an e-mail for the department to receive complaints and submit development proposals.
His Excellency clarified today's objectives, which are summed up by linking the past with the present, providing means of permanent communication, offering job opportunities, and field training.
The department aims to host employers in Spanish to talk to students and clarify the requirements of the labor market.
Dr. Najwa Mahrez then spoke about the role of the Association for Those Interested in Spanish Culture in providing scholarships and coexistence for students in Spain, and she also talked about the history of the association and how it started, and the state's support for it.
Then, Dr. Nadia Jamal El-Din and Dr. Aisha Swailem, former heads of the department, delivered certificates of honor.
Thus, the attendees began to deliver their welcoming speeches, in the forefront, Mr. Ahmed El-Sayyad, the Regional Director of Vodafone Spain in Egypt, in turn, talked about job opportunities, company departments, promotion methods, and the importance of preparing a CV for the student.
In gratitude, the department honored Mrs. Fatima has been working in the department for several years.
Professor Mahmoud Fikry Abdel Samie, a graduate of the first batch of the Spanish department in 1961 and a well-known translator, gave his speech.
He was followed by Mr. Hamdi Zaki, Deputy Minister of Tourism, and he spoke in his speech about his memories with major celebrities such as the artist Omar Sharif and the American actress Elizabeth Taylor.
As well as the speeches of the Messrs: Salah Atris, owner of Tanto Tours Company for Tourism, the poet Ahmed Abbas, the translator Ahmed Nassar, Mrs. Fatima Youssef from Egyptian Radio, and other loyal sons of the department, followed by the words of the recent graduates who expressed their joy at the department’s honoring of them and their participation as community parties in the quality accreditation programs.
The ceremony concluded with some wonderful artistic performances, such as playing the oud, reciting poetry, and singing Dr. Youmni Azmy.
