The Graduate Studies Sector at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, Ain Shams University, organized a scientific symposium entitled "Legal Translation in the United Nations System", under the auspices of Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty, and supervision of Prof. Ashraf Attia, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, lectured by Dr. Fathi Mohamed Abdel Raouf, translator and reviewer for the United Nations system, in the presence of postgraduate students in various departments of the faculty, faculty staff and the teaching assistants.
During the symposium, Dr. Fathi Mohamed Abdel Raouf presented a number of topics related to legal translation in the United Nations system, starting with presenting an overview of legal translation in the United Nations system. He also reviewed the skills that must be available in the legal translator, and the challenges facing the legal translator and ways to confront them.
He dealt with how to benefit from legal documents in translation training, and the lecturer reviewed the difficulties of legal translation and the importance of being fully aware of legal terminology and using it accurately. He also shed light on search engines in legal translation, whether related to commercial laws or criminal laws, etc. Machine translation applications in translating legal texts.
