Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University, confirmed that the faculty includes the "Refa'a for Research and Development of Linguistic Information and Translation" unit, which is of a special nature, and its name goes back to the pioneer of enlightenment, Sheikh Rifa’a Rafi’ al-Tahtawi (1801-1873), who founded the Faculty of Al-Alsun in 1835 AD.
The unit operates within the framework of serving the environment, meeting the needs of society, and completing the role played by the Faculty of Al-Alsun in communicating with different civilizations and cultures through teaching foreign languages, Arabic for non-native speakers, translation, and scientific research.
She indicated that the unit offers general courses in foreign languages (English - French - Italian - Spanish - German - Russian - Czech - Chinese - Japanese - Korean - Hebrew. The duration of the level is 16 hours per month, with two lectures per week.
There are also courses in general conversation in all languages, Arabic language proficiency courses for Arabic speakers, language courses in specialized fields, general and specialized translation courses, training courses for passing the TOEFL test (for Ain Shams University), and courses in qualifying for the IELTS exam.
The unit also organizes intensive and special courses in agreement with the groups and bodies wishing to do so. The courses are held in the classrooms and laboratories of the faculty, provided that registration for the courses takes place in the unit’s secretariat on the ground floor of the building of the Faculty of Al-Alsun in Abbasiya.
